<br />}tfl <br /> <br />public hearing, june 2, 1971 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />360-acre Hughson Tract, beginning in 1967, when~he pre- <br />liminary plat for the 60"'BCi' development was first pre- <br />sented to the Planning & Zoning Commission and then to the <br />Council. He said he had complied with ~ll City codes and <br />ordinances at all times, Mr. Stokes showed the engineer's <br />drawings and the plats to explain the plans for develop- <br />ment. He stated it was a $1,000,000 project, and would <br />eve~tually be ~laced on the City's tax rolls for that a- <br />mount. Mr. Stokes expressed surprise at the opposition. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Marcus Jackson was spokesman for the persons protestQ <br />the requested change in zoning. He represented property- <br />owners in the area of Hughson Heights adjacent to Section <br />"Dff, He listed their objectibns as contained in a letter <br />previously sent the City CounciL See attached. Mr. Jackson <br />q'uoted goals outlined in the City's Comprehensive Plan, <br />and said his group felt i~ was agriod plan, and thought the <br />Council should abide by it. <br />Selleral other interested perspnsspoke against the proposed <br />change of zoni ng. A discussion with Counci lmen ensued. <br />When all opponents had been heard, Mr. Stokes was given five <br />min~tes for rebuttal. The Mayo~ declared the Public hearing <br />closed. <br /> <br />Continuing with items on the Agenda,th~ Mayor introduced <br />and read aloud an ordinance amending the zoning map in <br />accordance with the request of Mr. Holmes. Caption reads: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE <br />WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE <br />OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES, AND LAND, DATED MAY 23, <br />1966 (VOL. 32), BY ORDERING CERTAIN ZONING CHANGES, <br />AS SHOWN IN THE BODY HEREOF; AND ESTABUSHING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS AMENDATORY ORDINANCE <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Councilman Smith moved passage of the ordinance on first <br />reading.
