regular meeting, july 26, 1971 page three The Mayor introduced and read aloud a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to act for the City in the execution of docume,nts relating to the' Code' Enforcement Program previously approved. Caption of the 'Resolution is as follows: I RESOLUTION APPROVING AND PROVIDING FOR EXECUTION OF PROPOSED GRANT CONTRACT FOR CODE ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM, NUMBERED CONTRACT NO. TEX E~19(G), BE- TWEEN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. PERTAINING TO THE PREPARATION O~ CODE ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM NO. TEX E-19 Mr. Ki ng moved approval of the Resolution, a copy of, which is attached. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion and on roll call, the following ,vote wa,s recorded: AYE: DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores', ,King, Yarbrough NAY: None The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. The Mayor introduced a second Resolution required for the Code Enforcement Program, caption of which is as follows: RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS PROVIDI NGAS~ SURANCES PURSUANT TO THE UNIFORM RELOCATION ASSISTANCE AND REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION POLICIES ACT OF 1970 I Mr. DeLa Rosa moved approval of the Resolution, a copy of which is attached. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion, and on roll call, the following vote, was recorded: AYE: NAY: DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, Kin~. Yarbrough None The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. Councilman Etheredge enquired about the recommendations received by the Environmental Advisory Committee. The City Manager advised the Council,that the staff is considering !J1ethods<of removing the weed cuttings ,from, the San Marcos River., Mr" Gresham said that the second,recommendation would require engineermng proposals for the feasibility study on construction of a water-softening plant. He said he would have further reports in the near future. Mr.. Etheredg'e said he felt the Council should take S,Ome action to get the railroad companies to repair the crossings. since their condition slows traffic. The Mayor agreed, and asked Mr. Etheredge and Mr. DeLa Rosa to act as a ~ommit~ee fO,look into tee problem and report their findings and recommendations to the Council. I Mr. King brought before the Council a report on a cr1S1S condition which exists at the Hays County Recreation Association property due to a severe water shortage. He requested that the City allow the Association to tap the 10-inch main that serves Gary Job Corps,for temporary use until the water table is raised and pumping can be resumed from the Blanco River. He said they would impound water in their reservoir at low hours, in cooperat- ion with Gary. The Association would lay its own lines, and there would be little expense to the City.
