<br />regular meeting, july 26, 1971 <br /> <br />page three <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced and read aloud a Resolution authorizing <br />the City Manager to act for the City in the execution of <br />docume,nts relating to the' Code' Enforcement Program previously <br />approved. Caption of the 'Resolution is as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AND PROVIDING FOR EXECUTION <br />OF PROPOSED GRANT CONTRACT FOR CODE ENFORCEMENT <br />PROGRAM, NUMBERED CONTRACT NO. TEX E~19(G), BE- <br />TWEEN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS AND THE UNITED STATES <br />OF AMERICA. PERTAINING TO THE PREPARATION O~ CODE <br />ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM NO. TEX E-19 <br /> <br />Mr. Ki ng moved approval of the Resolution, a copy of, which is <br />attached. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion and on roll call, <br />the following ,vote wa,s recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores', ,King, Yarbrough <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced a second Resolution required for the Code <br />Enforcement Program, caption of which is as follows: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS PROVIDI NGAS~ <br />SURANCES PURSUANT TO THE UNIFORM RELOCATION ASSISTANCE <br />AND REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITION POLICIES ACT OF 1970 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. DeLa Rosa moved approval of the Resolution, a copy of <br />which is attached. Mr. Etheredge seconded the motion, and <br />on roll call, the following vote, was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, Kin~. Yarbrough <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved. <br /> <br />Councilman Etheredge enquired about the recommendations <br />received by the Environmental Advisory Committee. The City <br />Manager advised the Council,that the staff is considering <br />!J1ethods<of removing the weed cuttings ,from, the San Marcos <br />River., Mr" Gresham said that the second,recommendation <br />would require engineermng proposals for the feasibility <br />study on construction of a water-softening plant. He said he <br />would have further reports in the near future. <br /> <br />Mr.. Etheredg'e said he felt the Council should take S,Ome action <br />to get the railroad companies to repair the crossings. since <br />their condition slows traffic. The Mayor agreed, and asked Mr. <br />Etheredge and Mr. DeLa Rosa to act as a ~ommit~ee fO,look into <br />tee problem and report their findings and recommendations to <br />the Council. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. King brought before the Council a report on a cr1S1S <br />condition which exists at the Hays County Recreation Association <br />property due to a severe water shortage. He requested that the <br />City allow the Association to tap the 10-inch main that serves <br />Gary Job Corps,for temporary use until the water table is raised <br />and pumping can be resumed from the Blanco River. He said they <br />would impound water in their reservoir at low hours, in cooperat- <br />ion with Gary. The Association would lay its own lines, and there <br />would be little expense to the City. <br />
