I I I ;<.7) RES 0 L UTI 0 N WHEREAS, the Texas State Depart~ent of Health has been funded, through general appropriation, to establish two additional Regional Health Departments; and, WHEREAS, the State of Texas is divided into ten Health Department Regions; and, WHEREAS, State Department Region VI is coterminous with three State Planning Regions served by four Regional Planning Commissions included within it, greater cooper- ation in planning and services for all governmental units ,can be assured from a Regional Health Department; and, WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos is a participating and active member of the Capital Area Planning Council, a Regional Planning Commission serving the Counties of Bastrop, B~anco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis and Williamson; and, WHEREAS, Texas State Health Department~ion VI contains 22 counties and 290,000 persons not se ved by local health departments; and, WHEREAS, the services of a health department are needed in our region to assist local gov~rnmental units, physicians engaged in private practice, and'citizens of the region in solving n...rl:t:tr-arrd related problems~~ ~ " ,~- \'~ WHEREAS, the City of~an Marcos wants to co~pe~ate with' ~ the State Health Department in esta~l,i hin \a Region~ Health Department in Region.>>I: /',' NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: tha' e ~ty of San Marcos urges the State Board of Health and the Texas State Depart- ment of Health to carefully consiDer the health needs of Region VI in selecting the Regional Health Departments to. be funded; and, J .- r BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that ~esgl 10n State Board of Health and other ap~riata-St and local officials.
