<br />.rJ -7 D <br />f/~O <br /> <br />PRO C LAM A T ION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States of America <br /> <br />g1ves us the foundation for a free, prq~perous, and in- <br /> <br />dependent life for every citizen; and, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, each generation, in time, must work for and claim <br /> <br />our Constitution for its own, since through carelessness or <br /> <br />indifference, the rights and liberties we have enjoyed may <br /> <br />vanish; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is of greatest consequence that citizens fully <br /> <br />understand the provisions and principles contained in the <br /> <br />Constitution of the United States of America in order to <br /> <br />be able to support it properly as, ~The greatest document <br /> <br />for human liberty in two thousand years of recorded history~; <br /> <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the independence granted to the American people <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />to enjoy such freedom and liberty, unknown to any other <br /> <br />country, should be celebrated by appropriate ceremonies and <br /> <br />activities during Constitution Week, as designated by proc- <br /> <br />lamation of the President of the United States in accordance <br /> <br />with Public Law Number 915: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, L Herbert A. Yarbrough, jr" by virtue of <br /> <br />the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of San Marcos, <br /> <br />Texas, do hereby proclaim the Week of September 17 through <br /> <br />September 23, 1971, as <br /> <br />CONSTITUTION WEEK <br /> <br />and urge all citizens to pay special attention during that <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />week to our Federal Constitution, and the advantages of <br /> <br />American Citizenship. <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, <br /> <br />have hereunto set my hand and caused the <br /> <br />Seal of the City of San Marcos to be affixed, this first day <br /> <br />of September, 1971. <br /> <br /> <br />, , " <br />Je'~[;~~tf{A . <br /> <br /> <br />fl JtL <br />
