meet1ng, hearing

september 27,1971

page three

17

AYE:

DeLa Rosa, Emery, Etheredge, Flores, King, Tauch,
Yarbrough

NAY: None

The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted.

I

The Mayor said it was in order that names be placed in nomination
for appointments to the Planning & Zoning Commission in October.
He recalled that David Pool had resigned, effective at the end
of his term, and that Mr. DeLa Rosa had submitted the name of
the Rev. Alphonso Washington for ~onsideration. Mr. Yarbrough
said Dr. Stanley Sissom would continue to serve, if reappointed.
Mr. Etheredge submitted the name of Dr. Alfred Borm. Mr. Flores
submitted the name of Bob Barton.

The Mayor said members of the Council had received copies of a
lengthy report from the Fire Prevention and Engineering Bureau
6f Texas on the San Marcos Fire Department. He asked that Council-
men study the Report, which stated that San Marcos was complying
with rules and regulations, but made suggestions for continued
improvement through providing more personnel, more equipment, and
increased water supply and pressure.

Mr. Yarbrough discussed the importance of the Federal Flood In-
surance Program, and the fact that too few persons who are eli-
gible had taken advantage of its benefits. He said there was a
real danger that the Federal Government might withdraw the program
if more interest were not shown.

I

Mr. King said he had had several enquiries about the possibility
of a leash law for dogs. Mr. DeLa Rosa said he had been contacted
by citizens on the same matter. The City Manager agreed to study
the feasibility of amending the existing ordinance regulating dogs
within the City Limits, to include a leash requirement.

Mr. King called attention to the copies of minutes of the Sept. 2
meeting of the Environmental Advisory Committee which were included
in Council packets. He asked Mr. Juan Palomo, present at the
meeting, if there were any recommendations made by the Committee
which should come before the Council. Mr. Palomo referred to an
amendment to a motion he had made that concerned Hughson Meat Co.'s
compliance with Texas Water Quality Board's regulations, in order
to make it more definite.

The meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m.

.lcl/a {f~

Eddy A.
