~
II- of SanA&cos

POST OFFICE BOX 725/ SAN MARCOS, TEXAS 78666/ AC 512 392-2417

February 4, 1970

Honorable Mayor and City Council
City of San Marcos
San Marcos, Texas

Gentlemen and Dr. Craddock:

The following remarks refer to the February 3, 1970 Planning and Zoning
Commission meeting:

.
I

A. A Public Hearing was held on a request for change of zoning from Thermon
Industrial Development Corporation on 40.5 acres of land located off Interstate
35, south of the Wide-Lite Corporation and Bowden Construction Company, from
"R-l" (single-family residential) to "I" (Industrial). No one appeared to pro-
test the change. After due discussion and consideration by the Commission, it
was agreed to forward this request to the City Council with the Commission's
approval.

B. Mr. W. S. Rader appeared before the Commission to obtain preliminary ap-
proval of Section 3, Tanglewood. This property is not presently in the City
Limits of San Marcos. It is located on Elmoore Drive, across from Nichols Dr.
Mr. Rader will be present at Monday's Council meeting with a map and a more
detailed explanation of his plans for this area. The Planning and Zoning Com-
mission voiced unanimous approval for Section 3, Tanglewood.

C. A request for annexation was received from the Knights of Columbus on their
property located at the junction of W. San Antonio and W. Hopkins Streets. After
due discussion and consideration by the Commission, it was agreed to recommend to
the City Council that all of that property not presently in the City Limits, being
between Hunter Road and Redwood Road, be annexed to the City. This would include
the Knights of Columbus, and would "square-off" the City Limits line in this area.
A map is attached for your information and consideration.

Sincerely yours,

'7/~ W~

I

(Mrs.) Vel Wallis
Secretary, Planning &
Zoning Commission

Enclosures

~ftr!70 j
