She emphasized <br />that she was not speaking for the League of Women Voters, <br />since members had not made a further study of this particu- <br />lar question since their 1964 exhaustive study of munici~ <br />pal government. She offered as her personal opinion that <br />"no form gf government is immun~ to political exploitation. <br />Our duty is to enquire, inform ou~selves, and try to elect <br />people who are free from selfish motives." <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Six.'of the seven Charter Commission members present spoke <br />to the question, and the Council received communications <br />from the Rev. C.E. Jennings, chairman of the 1966-67 <br />Charter Commission, and of the 1968 Charter Review Commission, <br />and from member Elwood Soechting. <br /> <br />Harris Koch, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Augustin <br />Lucio and.
