<br />II:;S <br /> <br />regular meeting, june 8, 1970 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Mrs. Annie Greenwood appeared before the Council to urge the <br />City to take measures to prevent flooding of Purgatory Creek. <br />She stated prope~ty-owners in that neighborhood do not want <br />to move, as they may be required to do as Urban Renewal plans <br />develop, but she said they want action one way or the other: <br />"Either 'fix the creek' or buy the land". <br /> <br />Mr. Jim T. Brown, Executive Director of the Urban Renewal Agency, <br />came before the Council to review Neighborhood Development Programs. <br />He recommended that a public hearing be called on EL Molino, <br />indicated by the orange section on the map. Dr. Craddock I <br />moved that a public hearing on EI Molino be called for 6:00 p.m., <br />July 14, 1970. Mr. Yarbrough seconded the motion and on roll <br />call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Contreras, Craddock, Flores, Smith, Yarbrough, Zavesky <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown said neighborhood meetings would be set up to inform <br />the public before the hearing date. <br /> <br />The City Manager reminded the Council that it had authorized <br />a public hearing on annexation of 3S.61 acres bounded by Bugg <br />Lane, River Road and Highway SO. The date was not set, because <br />one of the interested parties was ill in the hospital. <br />Mr. Yarbrough moved adoption of an ordinance authorizing the <br />Mayor to publish notice of a public hearing at 7:30 p,m., <br />June 22, 1970. Caption is as follows~ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE SETTING A DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR A PUBLIC <br />HEARING ON THE PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTY BY <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING <br />THE MAYOR TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF SUCH PUBLIC HEARING; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Zavesky seconded the motion and on roll call, the following <br />vote was record~d: <br /> <br />AY E: Contreras.,.. Craddock, Flores, Smith, Yarbrough, Zavesky <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted. <br /> <br />Th~ City Manager stated that since the sale of alcoholic <br />beverages had been legalized in San Marcos by the June 6 local <br />option election, he had asked the City Attorney to research the <br />City's legal responsibilities inr~gardto liquor stores. <br />Mr. Bean suggested that the Council recess to reconvene the next <br />day to receive the City Attorney's report. <br />Mr. Zavesky moved that the Council recess to reconvene at 1:00 <br />p:m.i Tuesday, June 9.
