special meeting, july 2, 1970

page two

Jim T. Brown came before the Council to clarify the
$650,000 additional allocation from 'the Department of
Housing and Urban Development , as announced by telegram
from Senator Towe~, June 26. This was the amount cut out
of the original request for the River Project, resulting
in an allocation of $950,000. HUD's action simply restored
the amount previously denied, and was taken because of the
condition~ ~aused by the May 15 flood. Funds now available
for the River Project total $1,600,000. I
Mr~ Brown said HUD officials had offered to send personnel to
a~sist in preparing the application for "EI Molino", second
area scheduled for development in the Neighborhood Develop-
mentFrogram, which was also hard-hit by the flood.
Mr. Bro~n'was hopefulthat"El Molino" would be funded sooner
than anticipated, because of the deterioration of the neigh-
borhood after the flood.

The Council adjourned at 8:45 a.m., to reconvene ~tthe cill
of the Mayor.

~~,~

Mayor

J~ ' .;
i//'fV?Ld:v<-#/..4.u'
Luciano H.Flores
Councilman

~t0{

Ro"" ,.,U
Councilman

Councilman

ATTEST:

I
