<br />J <br />I ?-,I \' <br /> <br />regular meeting august 24, 1970 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an ordinance annexing property <br />on the Uhland Road belonging to Mrs. Martha Kaiser. <br />Caption is as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORD~NANCE RECEIVING CERTAIN TERRITORY ADJOINING <br />THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />INTO SAID CITY <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock moved adoption of the ordinance on first <br />reading. Mr. King seconded the motion, ~hich passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Council continued a drsc~sslon b~~u~at the August 10th <br />meeting, on the adv~sability of annexing small tracts in <br />isolated'areas. Mr. Yarbrough moved that, in view of the <br />"spot annexation" character of the Kaiser ~npexation, the <br />Council request the Planning & ZoningColl)mission to consider <br />the surrounding territory on Uhland Road for involu.n:tary <br />annexation. Dr. Craddock seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. B.D. Hillburn came'before the Council to disciJs his <br />request for change of zoning on property at the intersection <br />of Chestnut and Lyndon B. Johnson Drive. In his previous <br />appearance before the Council, discussion on the matter had <br />centered on traffic ~ongestion,and the need to widen LBJ. <br />Mr. Hillburn had agreed to deed up to .20 ,:Feet for widening <br />LBJ Drive. He agreed to deed the portion, of .his tract which <br />forms a point at Chestnut and LBJ to the City for removing <br />a traffic hazard at the intersection. Mr. Flores moved that <br />the zoning on the Hillburn tract be changed from "R-l" to <br />"M", provided the required right-of-way be deeded to the City I <br />for wideningLBJ, as well as the "point" backt6 the small <br />bridge, for improvement of traffic flow. Mr. King seconded <br />the motion, and., ,!nroll caJl, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Contreras, Craddock, Flores, King, Smith, <br />Yarbrough, Zavesky <br /> <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The "INDECO" subdivision plat was considered by' the Council. <br />The City Manager stated that approval of the plat would re- <br />quire that an exception be made to the existing subdivision <br />ordinance. Discussion centered on location and width of <br />the streets. Dr. Craddock moved that the City Manager be <br />requested to get information on similar subdivisions in other <br />areas, and how the new concept affects operation of municipal <br />services; and that the INDECO architect be invited to appear <br />before the Council to discuss the plan. Mr. King seconded <br />the motion, which passed unanimo'usly. <br /> <br />The Mayor reminded the Council of the vacancy on the Zoning I, <br />Board of,Adj ustment to be filled. Mr. Smith moved that Mr. <br />Ben McCollum ije appointed to the Board. Mr. Yarbrough second- <br />ed the motion and on roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> <br />Contreras, Craddock, King, Smith, Yarbrough, Zavesky <br />None <br />Flores <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br />
