<br />Mr. Augustin Lucio, Jr..,came before the Council to request drainage improvements
<br />in the Sunset Acres Addition. Mr. Lucio stated that improper drainage was
<br />resulting in damage to streets and some homes in the area, and, in general,
<br />contributing to the deterioration of the neighborhood. Mr. George Gilbert stated
<br />that the Soil Conservation Service had been requested to study the area with
<br />regard to the problem. Mr. Flores reported that a storm sewer project authorized
<br />in 1967 had greatly allieviated drainage problems in the area, and requested a
<br />study to determine the source of the recent problem. Mr. Dibrell concurred,
<br />recommending the study be coordinated with proposed development in the area so
<br />that no further probl~s'were created.

<br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration a Follow-Up Order authorizing the
<br />disbursement of Certificates of Obligation Nos. 34, 35, 36, 37, 38 & 39, in
<br />the total amount of $30,000 and cash in the amount of $4,740 to Bohlman, Inc.
<br />for claims incurred in the construction of the new City Hall. Mr. Hansen moved,
<br />approval of the Order as an emergency. Mr. Arredondo seconded the motion, which
<br />passed unanimously.

<br />The Mayor introduced consideration of award of bid on one rural fire truck.
<br />She announced that two bids had been received as follows: Fire Fox Corporation,
<br />$24,998; Fred Stroud Company, $24,840. Mr. Breihan recommended the truck be
<br />purchased from Fire Fix Corporation on ~he basis that the Fire Fox truck would
<br />meet the needs of the Fire Department better than the truck from Fred Stroud Co.
<br />The City Manager explained that the price bid was $1,160 over the funds presently
<br />available for purchase of the truck, but that the overage could be covered by
<br />the $8,000 revenue sharing funds allocated the Fire Department. Mr. Sutton stated
<br />his concern that the truck had not been let for bids sooner after receipt of the
<br />$23,200 frOmQ~Ba Hays County Commissioners. Mr. Breihan moved approval of the
<br />purchase of the fire truck fr~ Fire Fox Corporation in the amount of $24,998.00.
<br />Mr. Dibrell seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

<br />The Mayor introduced for consideration the approval of the planned use report for
<br />Revenue Sharing Entitlement Period #6. A summary of the report is as follows:

<br />Mr. Hansen moved approval of the planned use report. Mr. Flores seconded the
<br />motion. Mr. Breihan introduced a Resolution regarding the proposed allocation
<br />for improvements to the water & wastewater system for the Civic Center. The City
<br />Attorney recommended the Resolution be placed on the Agenda for the next Regular
<br />Meeting since it had not appeared on the June 9 Agenda. Mrs. Ruth Thomas came before
<br />the Council to protest any allocation for solution to drainage problems on Sessom
<br />Drive created by construction of Treehouse Apartments. On roll call, the motion to
<br />approve the planned use report as described ahove passed unanimously.

<br />FIREMEN, THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS OF EACH CLASSIFICATION, AND THE SALARY
<br />IN STEPS FOR EACH CLASSIFICATION, BY AMENDING THAT SECTION NUMBERED 2-31
<br />ENTITLED "JOB CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY" SO AS TO CREATE TIlE POSITION OF
<br />FIRE TRAINING OFFICER OF THE FIRE SERIES, AUTHORIZING ONE SUCH POSITION,
<br />ESTABLISHING A SALARY SCHEDULE FOR SUCH POSITION AND REDUCING THE NUMBER
<br />OF AUTHORI7.ED FIRE CAPTAINS FROM 4 TO 3 IN NUMBER.
