Arredondo <br />Ted Breihan <br />Luciano H. Flores <br />John Hansen <br />Kenneth E. Sutton <br /> <br />City Manager <br />City Attorney <br />City Secretary <br />Director of Public Works <br />Director of Finance <br /> <br />James B. Baugh <br />Tom Akins <br />Doriss Hambrick <br />William T. Friedrich <br />Earl T . Williams <br /> <br />Also present: Richard W. Looney; Frank Adams; George Gilbert; Allyn Gill; <br />Jack Stovall; Everette Rohr; Bob Benson; Robert Boyd; <br />Shirley Wickersham; Terry Roberts; Melissa Millecam; Jerri <br />Martin; Gary Bond; Rowe Ray; and others. <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />M~r Craddock issued a Proclamation in obserance of Barbershop Harmony Month. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held March 8, 1976, were approved on motion <br />of Mr. Sutton and second of Mr. Hansen. The Minutes of the Special Meeting held <br />March 11, 1976, were appro~ed on motion of Mr. Hansen and second of Mr. Sutton. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock introduced an ordinance known as the Fair Housing Ordinance which <br />was read in its entirety. The caption of the Ordinance is as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINJU'lCE OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMEl\iDING THE CODE OF <br />ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, BY ADDING A NEW CHAPTER <br />NUMBERED 32, ENTITLED "FAIR HOUSING" SO AS TO DECIJIRE AND ESTAB1!SH <br />THE POLICY OF THE CITY TO FURTHER THE RIGHT OF EACH INDIVIDUAL TO <br />PROVIDE A DWELLING FOR SUCH PERSON AND/OR SUCH PERSON'S FAMILY, <br />INCLUDING THE FINANCING TllEREOFWITHOU'I' REGARD TO SEX, RACE, COLOR, <br />RELIGION, OR NATIONAL ORIGIN; ADOI'rING REGULATIONS FOR BROKERAGE <br />SERVICES PROHIBITING DISCRIMINATION BASED ON SEX, RACE, COLOR, <br />RELIGION, OR NATIONAL ORIGIN; PROHIBITING INTIMIDATION; PROVIDING <br />FOR CERTAIN E.XEMPTIONS AND EXCLUSIONS; ESTABLISHING A PRECEDURE FOR <br />TIlE HANDLING OF COMPLAINTS; OU'I'LINING THE DU'I'IES OF THE FAIR HOUSING <br />OFFICER; PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF A FAIR HOUSING COMMISSION <br />WITHIN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS; PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION <br />OF ANY OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE; CLARIFYING CONFLICTING <br />ORDINANCES; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CMUSE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; <br />AND PROVIDING FOR THE PUBLICATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved approval of the ordinance on first reading. Mr. Hansen seconded <br />the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Arredondo, Craddock, Flores, Hansen, Sutton <br />NAY: Breihan. <br /> <br />The Mayor read an ordinance in its entirety, the caption of which is as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE PRICE AND CONDITIONS OF THE SALE BY TIlE <br />URBJU'I RENEWAL AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, OF' PARCEL <br />NO. 16D-2, (SEE LEGAL READING), LOCATED WITHIN TIlE JUAN VERAMENIJI <br />PROJECT, N.D.P., TEX. A-6, TO CARMEN C. MIRANDA, FEME SOLE; AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr. Arredondo moved the ordinance be adopted. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br />
