I ($1,000.00), in lawful money of the United States of America, with interest thereon from date hereof at the rate of three and one- fourth (3-1/4%) per cent per annum, payable September 1, 1955 and semi-annually thereafter on March 1st and September 1st in each year, as evidenced by coupons hereto attached, until the principal sum is paid. BOTH PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST of this bond are payable at the First National Bank, San Marcos, Texas, upon presentation and surrender of bond or proper coupon, and the City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby held and firmly bound, and its faith and credit and all real and personal property in said City are hereby pledged for the prompt payment of the principal of this bond and the interest thereon at maturity. THIS BOND is one of a series of twenty-six (26) bonds, numbered consecutively from One (1) to Twenty-six (26), inclusive, in the denomination of One Thousand ($1,000.00) Dollars each, aggregating Twenty-six Thousand ($26,000.00) Dollars, issued for the purpose of refunding, cancelling and in lieu of a like par amount of valid and subsisting outstanding indebtedness of said City of San Marcos, under and by virtue of the Constitution and Laws of the State of Texas, including Chapter 163, Acts of the 42nd Legislature, 1931, as amended, and in pursuance of an ordinance passed by the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas,_ which ordinance is of record in the Minutes of said City Council. The date of this bond, in conformity with the ordinance above mentioned, is September 1, 1954. AND IT IS HEREBY CERTIFIED AND RECITED that the issuance of this bond, and the series of which it is a part, is duly author- ized by law, and that all acts, conditions and things required to be done precedent to and in the issuance of this series of bonds, and of this bond, have been properly done and performed and have happened in regular and due time, form and manner as required by -I I
