128 that there will be certain charges set up for the use of the recreation building. He stated that the proceeds will be turned over to the City for its use on the Park. Mr. Nix suggested that a full-time caretaker be hired and that the City Police Department keep close watch on the building when it is in use. Mr. Nix also reported that the Army Reserve representative has contacted him concerning an armory in the park, and that the Reserve would be satisfied with four acres of land. Mr. Nix stated that a location has been decided on, if it meets the requirements of the engineering department. Mr. Nix then stated that the Park Board has given much thought to the matter of a grade crossing in the park. He stated that since the crossing will cost approximately $10,000.00, it is the Park Board's opinion that this money should be used on recreation equipment for the park and that the grade crossing idea be dismissed. Mr. Nix stated that the park could be made into an inviting place for approximately $6,300.00. He reported that the Park Board could order the equipment from Bill Jones Sporting Goods Store. The Council approved the Park Board's suggestions, therefore, it was agreed that the railroad crossing plans would be dismissed. Mr. Nix also suggested that a telephone be installed in the recreation building.
