<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />5 <br /> <br />R ~ SOL UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WBEREAS, the City of San Marcos, a'Municipal Corporation <br />in Hays County ,Texa s, issi tua ted in the watershed of the <br />Guada lupe-BlancoRivers, and their tributaries, and as a re- <br />sult of such situation, the growth and development of this <br />City'has been possible due in large part to the available water <br />supp ly ; and <br />WHEREAS, the legislature of the State of Texas has created <br />the Guada lupe -Blanco. River Au thorityfor the purpose of control, <br />storage, preservation and economic use of the waters of the <br />Guada lupe-BlancoRi vers and their tributaries; and <br />WHB.'REAS, the general lowering of the water table in this <br />area, and the decrease in flow of the San Harcos springs have <br />caused, and are causing, considerable alarin among residents of <br />this area regarding the future water supply; and <br />WHEREAS, the people of this community are vastly interested <br />in the economic development of the community, which development <br />is directly dependent upon a supply of water; and <br />WHEREAS, large industrie,s are now seriously considering <br />the installation of industrial facilities in and near to this <br />City, one .of the principa 1 inducements of sa i d indus trie s being <br />the supply of water; and <br />WHEREAS, the Governing body of. this City has been informed <br />that the Cityof.San Antonio has made an application to divert <br />a large amount. of water from the proposed Canyon Dam Reservoir, <br />and to transport the same bJ' pipe line to a distant area out- <br />side of the natural water shed of the Guadalupe-Blanco Rivers <br />and their tributariesi and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of this community have become very <br />much alarmed over theapp;Licationof trle City of San Antonio <br />to divert water from this watershed, in view. of the need for <br />
