.
.

!

I

San Marcos Fire Department
April 25, 1956
page 3

At the council meeting at which the bids were turned
over to the fire department, the question was raised whether or not
all suppliers of this type of equipment have had fair and equal
opportunity to bid on the equipment. This question was not decided
by the fire department. \'Ihi le we unqua lifiedly be lieve that the bid
of Simms Fire Equipment Company is a fair bid and is the type of
equipment we want and need, nevertheless we do not undertake to say
whether or not all bidders r~ve had equal and fair opportunity to bid.
In vie" of this , we think the .c1 ty counc1 1, it se If, should decide
the matter of whether a 11 suppliers have had fair and equal opportunity
to bid, and in the event the council feels that equal and fair
opportunity has not been offered to all, then that the bids should
all be rejected and readvertised.

I

Sincerely yours,

c-~<.~~~~
C.L,ffayne , Chief
San Mar, os Fire Department;
