<br />113 <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEITING SEPTEMBER l7, 1956 <br /> <br />On this, the 17th day of September, 1956, at 3:00 P. M. the City Council of <br />the City of San Marcos, Texas met in a special meeting at the City Hall in San <br />Marcos with the following members present and participating: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Calvin M. Allen, Acting Mayor <br />B. D. Hillburn, Alderman <br />S. R. Beecroft, Alderman <br />Herman Korff, Alderman <br />N. M. Davis, Alderman <br /> <br />Others present were: <br /> <br />Carl ~'\lilson, G. B. Smittl, W. G. Barbee, Fredericka Hopkins <br /> <br />A quorum being present, the meeting was called to order by Acting Mayor <br />Calvin M. Allen and the following transpired: <br /> <br />It was stated that this special meeting was called to review and consider the <br />recommendations made by Mr. R. H. McKinley of the San Antonio Machine and Supply <br />Company in connection with the Lift Station. The Council frequently consulted <br />Mr. Carl 'Nilsoh, Superintendent of the Sewer Plant and Mr. G. S. Smith, Electrician, <br />during the meeting. After conSiderable discussion Alderman Hillburn made a <br />motion that the City order from San Antonio Machine & Supply Company the following: <br /> <br />1 G. E. 30HP Motor and necessary switches and starters. <br />1 10 3/4 inch impellor for present pump, and have present <br />pump repaired. <br />2 9 1/4 inch impellors for other pumps, and they be repaired also. <br /> <br />Mr. Hillburn then stated an addition to his motion, to the effect that Mr. <br />Barbee be given full authority to purchase the combination starter, breaker and <br />switch from the San Antonio Machine & Supply Company; but if they could not <br />promise immediate delivery then he was to purchase them from some other company <br />that handles General Electric products and can promise immediate delivery. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Beecroft then seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted <br />unanimously in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />Next business presented to the Council was the blue prints of the proposed <br />building for the Police Department. Mr. 2eecroft made a motion that notice to <br />bidders for this building for the Police Department be published in the San Marcos <br />?,ecord and the sealed bids opened at 2:00 o'clock on October 10, 1956. Mr. Hillburn <br />seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the <br />motion. A copy of the Notice to Bidders is made a part of these minutes. <br /> <br />Acting Mayor Allen then disclosed that he would be out of the City on October 10th. <br />[",\r. Hillbllrn then made a motion that Mr. Beecroft preside over the meeting on <br />October 10th. Mr. Korff seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted un- <br />animously in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />Ihe problem of moving the fence on Mr. Lane's property, which is being purchased <br />for the Highway 81 right-oF-way, was brought to the attention of the Council. <br />Mr. Lane figured it would cost $225.00 and he would be glad to supervise putting the <br />fence back. After some discussion Mr. Allen suggested that Mr. A. Y. McWilliams <br />go out to Mr. Lane's property and estimate what he thought it would cost to put the <br />fence back in shape in its new position. Ihen they would make a proposition to <br />Mr. Lane and he could put it up himself. All the Aldermen were in agreement with <br />this suggestion. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />There being no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 4:30 P.
