<br />rep~esen~ing in the matter of the City buying a strip off of the property he
<br />controls on Hig}1way 81, for the expanded l~ight-of-way. Mr. McMillan presented claims
<br />for approximately $2,500.00 faT expenses he said would be entailed in moving back

<br />tha"t city spokemen pointed out where the st~tion was to be built. The city, however,
<br />maintains tl'Jat ;',!I:r. ;~us5ell 's representatives were given information only as to the
<br />location of the proposed new ~ight-of-way line, to guide them. After some discussion
<br />it was decided by all that a date be set for a meeting, between 9th
<br />and 15th so M_r. ~ ) Tucker, and his attorney ]v'lr. McMil12:1 could meet
<br />tone City Council, Mr.. Jii:c"NiJ.li2nls, and Mr.. J. P. Ellis, who INer0 con.ceJ~ned in the

<br />Next on the was the studying of the new ordinances which set
<br />forth policies govern the app~coval of su!:Jdivisions the City, as well as
<br />extensions of utilities into such subdivisions. It was to the attention
<br />of the :=:ounci1 by 1~~:r. BaTbee that it might be in violation of the te~rr:s o-f two
<br />bond issues, if money is used from the city Utiliti(~s1 funo.s, fOT reimbursement of
<br />subdividers who install utilities in subdivisions. It was decided that Mr.
<br />JacKs t.ake the matter up ;Nith attorneys of th8 League of Texas Municipalities,
<br />their opinion. After some discussion of a few minor changes in the ordinances
<br />it was decided that after Ph:. jacks hears from the League of Texas Municipalities
<br />he is to make changes, and sU~lnit final drafts.

<br />,l'JIr. Lane, supc'rintendent of the garbage d.2partment, next came berore t'nE;
<br />Council wi an idea of cutting down expenses in his dep2.rtment by elirainating
<br />one t.ruck ana one m2n~ He stateo he could do this by working frDm the cente:::- of
<br />thE streets, and using three men on each truck. He estimated by trlis change
<br />it would Savo the City in the neighborhood of $300.00 3 month and cut only
<br />about tvvelv2 customers. These would be on i':;orth Austin St::,eet outside or the city
<br />limits. The Council it ~ good idea and. mutually to give it a
<br />trial. They also Mr. Lane Goming up IN:Lth this to Jlelp cut City
<br />expenses.

<br />The Council then suggested and o~dered, for the safety of the men on the garbage
<br />trucks, to have large signs painted on the back of each tyuej( and to also place blinkers

<br />:'.JE:xt VE~S brought up th2t the men at the two new fiTe stations would like to set
<br />out some pecan trees. After smne discussion it was mutually 291'eed and ordered that
<br />six pecan tX2es should be pU2:'cha.sed for each fire station.
