<br />1-34 <br />l~ <br /> <br />were very pleased with the results shown and expressed'their appreciation by <br />directing that a letter be written to Mr. Price thanking him, and requesting <br />another report at the end of the year. The current report follows these <br />minutes and becomes a part hereof. <br /> <br />o <br />cn <br />o <br />..- <br />,... <br />Q:" <br /> <br />The question of whether to purchase two police cars was now brought to the <br />attention of the Council. Mr. Korff was appointed to look into this matter <br />and report his recommendations to the Council. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Mr, Beecroft to pass an ordinance providing for the <br />construction and maintenance of the portion of Highway No. 81 in the City of I <br />5an Marcos between the following Umi ts, to-wi t& From Broadway Street to <br />South City Limits as a freeway and as a street, hereinafter referred to as "the <br />Project" and authorizing the Mayor of the City to Execute .and the City Secretary <br />to affix the corporate seal and attest same, a certain contract between the <br />City and the State of Texas providing for the ~onstruction, maintenance, existence' <br />and use of said project as a freeway and as a street, and determining the <br />liabilities and responsibilities of the City and the State of Texas witn <br />reference thereto; and declaring an emergency and providing that the ordinance <br />shall be effective from and after its passage. Mr. Korff seconded the motion. <br />A vo~e was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />That the street sweeper now in use by the City is about worn out, was <br />brought to the attention of the Council. Mr. Hillburn was instructed to see <br />if a new one is needed and make his recommendations to the Council. <br /> <br />Mr. Beecrof~ was instructed to look into the cost of purchasing a ditch <br />digger, or back-hoe digger attachment, for the Water Department and report <br />back to the Council hisfindings. ' <br /> <br />Mr. Beecroft made a motion to adopt the following resolution: Be it <br />resolved by the City of San Marcos, Texas a municipal corporation, that said <br />Corporation's Mayor Pro Tern C. M.. Allen, be and he is hereby duly authorized <br />and fully empowered to enter into and execute, for and in the name of said <br />corporation, one certain written agreement, dated January 16, 1957, between <br />said corporation and Missouri Pacific.Railroad Company, herein called Carrier, I <br />respecting among certain things the construction, ownership, maintenance <br />and use of one certain 8 inch sewage disposal line crossing Carrier's premises <br />at ~ngineer Chaining Station 11110 f 58, I.C.C., at San Marcos, Texas all as <br />more particularly set out in said agreement, to which reference is made the <br />same as if fully set out herein". Mr. Davis seconded the motion. A vote <br />was taken which resulted unanimoUSly in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />A letter was read to the City Council from the Retail Merchants ASSociation <br />stating that some of the city Employees owe merchants on past-due accounts. <br />It was decided that a bulletin be attached to each employees check to the <br />effect that they should see about paying these back accounts or at least make <br />some arrangement with the merchant or merchants involved. <br /> <br />There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at <br />4:00 P.
