<br />4J <br /> <br />" ~--- <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING FEBRUARY 19, 1957 <br /> <br />On this, the 19th day of February, 1957, at,2:00 P. M. the City Council of <br />the City of San Marcos, Texas, met in a special meeting at the City Hall in <br />San Marcos, with the following members present and participating: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Calvin M. Allen, Mayor Pro Tern <br />S. R.Beecrof, Alderman <br />B. D. Hillburn, Alderman <br />Herman Korff, Alderman <br />W. M. Davis, Alderman <br /> <br />Others presenU <br /> <br />VI. G. Barbee <br /> <br />Fredericka Hopkins <br /> <br />A quorum being present, the Mayor called the meeting to order, and the <br />following transpired: <br /> <br />The first business to come before the Council was a letter of resignation <br />submitted by A. Y. McWilliams, street superintendent, effective as of February 28, 1957, <br />(the letter follows these minutes and becomes a part hereof). Mr. Beecroft offered <br />a motion to accept Mr. McWilliams' resignation as of February 28th, 1957 , but that <br />he be considered on vacation from and after 5 P. M. of February 19, 1957, his <br />duties to cease as of that time and date. Mr. Korff seconded the motion, A vote <br />was taken which resulted unanimously in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />The Council after some discussion mutually decided that Jack Major" should go <br />out at 8.00 A. M. on February 20th and check Mr. MCWilliams out; that fus, verify <br />the property turned over by him and make an inventory of such street department <br />property. It was further decided to have a tabulated, inventory control sheet <br />set up on each employee as to the pieces of automotive equipment they use, giving <br />date, speedometer reading, amount of gas, and recording mileage that is run each <br />day. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />It was decided for the present, to put Asa Dees in charge of the street <br />department. <br /> <br />A motion was made by Mr. Hillburn that~ due to curtailment of operations <br />in the street department, that effective February 28, 1957 the services of <br />Bobby Dabelgott and Brady McClanahan would, no longer be needed; but the City <br />would re-employ them if and when it needs them. Mr. Korff seconded the motion. <br />A vote was ,taken which resulted unanimously ,in favor of the motion. <br /> <br />It was also decided to get someone to appraise the old electric motors at the <br />sewer plant and advertise them for sale in the League of Texas Municipalities magazine. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Next was a question as to whether Mr. Korff had a report on the Police cars, <br />and if new ones were needed. Mr. Korff had not had an opportunity to go into the <br />matter thoroughly. Mr. Hillburn also had no report as yet on the street sweeper <br />question. <br /> <br />It was decided that at the present the City had no use for a back-hoe d~gger. <br />It was mentioned that Ted Briehan had a ditch digger, so it was decided to see if <br />the City could work out a deal with him for its use from time to time.. <br /> <br />An order for City Officers' Election on April 2nd, 1957 was presented to the <br />Council for approval and adoption. The corresponding "Notice of City Officers' <br />Election" was also presented for approval. They were reviewed; after which Alderman <br />Hillburn made a,motion that the Council approve the Order calling the Gity Officers' <br />Election on April 2nd, 1957, and give Mayor P~o TemAllen authority to sign same. <br />Alderman Korff seconded the motion. A vote was taken which resulted unanimously in <br />favor of the motion." Mayor Pro Tern Allen then signed the Order which follows these <br />minutes and is a part hereof. Alderman Hillburn made a motion that the "Notice of <br />Ci ty Officers' Election" be approved. Alderman Korff seconded the motion. A vote <br /> <br />I <br />~-- <br />
