M.
to hear a report on recommendations for the summer program.

Mr. Bass called attention to a discussion conc'i>rning raising the
dam at the Park one foot. Mr. Nix disoussed this with the Council hut it
was overlooked in the minutes of March lith.

Mrs. J. C. Sullivan, who replaced Mrs. Allen on the Park Board, read
the recommendations sent to us by Dr. Juel, Mrs. Victor Munk and Owen
Goodnight. Minor changes were made to the original, and were accepted by
the hoard. A copy of these recommendations will be sent to each member
and a copy will be attached to the minutes for a permanent record. The
most important changes were: (1). The director would be in charge of an
active program on Tuesday, Thursday, Fridays, and to eleven o'clock on
Saturdays, consisting of active games, swimming, dancing, and tournaments,
besides supervising all day functions, such as arts & craft in the morning.
'(2). The'rent of the"building was rel~uced to $5.00 for Civic Clubs,
Churches, etc. (3). The rental sessions would be divided into three,
morning, afternoon, and night at $5.00 each. (4). The adult single
season ticket was reduced from $7.50 to $6.00. .

'I

After much discussion, a motion was m2de that Mr. Nix see the City
Council and impress the need of cleaning the river or there could not be
any swimming this summer. Frank Taylor made a motion that a director be
employed for $800.00 starting June 1st to end August 25th, and give him
complete charge of hiring the people that he would need for this program.
A strong suggestion was made and agreed by all that high school boys be
hired for life savers and other places, provided that they are qualified.
We were unable to get a figure on the expenses of the Park last year, so
any other amounts needed would have to be included by the Council.

Mr. Bass made a motion that Mr. Nix and Edra Pennington be appointed
to work with the director of the Park, in outlinting his duties and
assisting in anyway pOSSible on the program. The motion was seconded by
Buck Paine.

Mr. Nix outlined two propositions received from Austin men. First,
one to bring a portable skating rink which could be located near the
National Guard Building, and the emount to be paid the City was not
available. Second, to have a miniature golf course which would pay 15%
on the gross, and the paddle boat rental 10% on gross. Everyone was in
favor of encouraging these to develop,; Mr. Bass felt it necessary to
have the City Attorney approve this action, and be sure that they were
carrying their own public liability, so the City would not be held responsible
in case of an accident. Mr. Nix said he discussed this with the men at
the time of their conversation.

I

Mrs. Sullivan was given the authority to spend the $100.00 left in
the Park fund for folding chairs. Frank Taylor was re-appointed to be
the representative for the Ball Park and to co~tinue to schedule games
9n come first serve basis.

The concessions were given to Dick DeSteiguer again on the same per-
centage as before.

Meeting adjourned at 9:30 P. M.
