<br />authorize insta.llit1~1 a concrete gutter besidE! Wuest's St.aTe in order to prevent
<br />damage the stTeet and to the foundation of the buildi.ng, with an estimated
<br />cost of $200.00. By a unanimous decision of the Council the City Manager was
<br />authorized to install this gutteJ:.

<br />Several yea:r:s ago, tile Council approved the curb and gutte:r:ing as well I
<br />as pavil";9 of Mill 'Street:! hov.'eve:r, this project was d81ayed until ce:rtain
<br />utilities could be put in.. The City Manager reported that this pI.eject can
<br />now be completed and is badly needed. M:rM Sparks was the 10'N bi.dder on the
<br />original cont.ract, which 1j','as for $1..15 per foot, however, due to the long
<br />delay and increased p:r-ices of materials there would have to be an increase of
<br />lO~ per foot. Mr. Bee-:roft made a matio:: that the City pave N'iill Street, 01'
<br />any other street, if the occupants of s'creet concerned will pay fo1' the curb
<br />and gutter~ This motion WaS seconded by Mr. Steakley and was passed by a
<br />unanimous vote of the Council.

<br />Mr.. C~ V. Carson is planning to enlarge his cafe on Highway 81 at the
<br />traffic circle and requests that ttle City extend a sewer line to serve the en-
<br />laTged establishment. The new line to be on Aust.i.D St::reet and lllJill ::requi.1'e
<br />230 ft. of 6u line arvJ one manhole or cleanout at an approximate t;ost 0 f $175.00.
<br />It was a un~~imous decision by the Council to approve th,,, installation of this
<br />new sewer line with the provisi.on that Mr. Carson will put in the tap.

<br />The sewer department is in dire need of a machine for cleaning sewer
<br />lines and at the preser.t time the only means of clearing stopped lines is
<br />by manual operation of the sewer cleaning equipment. Th() C:\ ty Manager informed
<br />the Cou~cil that a mechanical cleaner consisting of a motor, stand for holding
<br />the cleanj.ng rods, traile~l' for transporting the equipment and the necessary
<br />additional r{)ds and tools for 500' of sewer cleaning, ','ould cost $891.85.
<br />With this machine th(~ Sewer Depa:rtment shOUld be ahle to carryon preventive
<br />maintenance and reduce the number of stoppages which we have now. It was
<br />unanimously decided to purchase this Dachine~
