<br />Ci ty Council met in adjourned session on October 1:), 1957, at 2:00 P.M. in
<br />the Council Room, City Hall, with the following present:

<br />The purpose of this adjourned meeting was to discuss the plans prepared by
<br />Mr. Dixon for the lift station on the main sewer trunk-line to the disposal plant.
<br />Nil'. Dixon recommended that the plans be approved, subject to corrections suggested
<br />by the City Manager, and that the plans be sent. to the State Health Departments'
<br />Division of Water Pollution Control and th," U. S. Public Health Service for
<br />approval and the i.ncumberance of Federal Funds, previously approved for this pro-
<br />ject.

<br />When asked for a recommendation, the City Manager recommended that the plans
<br />be approved, with minor corrections, for thD purpose of expediting the project..
<br />However, he pointed out that a great deal more study WaS required before it could
<br />be determined what additional improvements, if any, would be required to make a
<br />satisfactory operation in the sewerage disposal system.

<br />Alderman Beecroft made a motion, seconded by Alderman Hillburn, that the
<br />plans for Lift Station and ForGe Main, dated August 1957, as submitted hy Mr. Dixon,
<br />be tentatively acce"pted, subject to minor corrections, and. forwarded to the
<br />appropriat.e stzt~! and Federal Health ,Agencies for approval, further action on
<br />construction of the project to be contingent on subsequent reports by t,(1e City
<br />Manager. upon roll call the votes were,

<br />Th2 City Manage:r reported to the Council that two police offl,;ers, Passmore
<br />and Collins, had resigned and had obtained bet.teT payin9 positions. On motion
<br />by Mr. Beecroft, seconded by Mr. Hil1burn, and unanimously approved, a $12.50
<br />per month salary adjustment was authorized for Sgt. Thomas, Patrolman Greene
<br />and Patrolman Al Rodriguez.

<br />The Council di,scu,.sed acquiring lots 12 and 13, Block 2, City of San Marcos
<br />Addition, in tbe name of VELA, Refugio Munoz Estate. The City Manager read a
<br />copy of a letter :received by Mr. Wade from the General Counsel of the Federal
<br />Land Bank with reference to a mortgage on thi.s property. It was the pleasure
<br />of the Council that the City Attorney investigate the advisability of the City
<br />offering the Federal Land Bank $1,500.00 for the property provided the Land
<br />Bank can give title to the property under their judgement (all St.ate, County
<br />and city taxes included in the offer and to be paid by the Land Bank or credited
<br />for payment by the Gi ty).

<br />The Council. authorized the City Manager to pay the 1957 taxes assessed by
<br />tbe State and County against Lot 2, Block 20, San Marcos Addition. The Assessor-
<br />Collector of Hays County to be notified that the City receives no income from
<br />this property and request that it be exempted from taxation.
<br />
<br />The Counc:tl authorized t.he City Manager to furnish a water connection for
<br />Lucio CAD ILLO , Alahama Street, and to collect the $35.00 connection charge in
<br />payment provided that the balance waS secured by the property.
