<br />4ID <br />165 <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United Nations has as its purpose the maintenance of <br /> <br />international peace through collective security and the peaceful <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />settlement of disputes, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States of America has joined with the other <br /> <br />member nations in furthering world security and the advancement <br /> <br />of all the peoples of the world, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in this technological and scientific age the fullest <br /> <br />cooperation is required of all nations to insure harmonious and <br /> <br />peaceful development, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the General Assembly of the United Nations has resolved <br /> <br />that October twenty fourth (24th) shall be dedicated annually to <br /> <br />making known the purposes, principals and accomplishments of the <br /> <br />United Nations. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Calvin M. Allen, Mayor of the City of San Marcos, <br /> <br />do hereby urge the citizens of this city to obser~e October 24, 1958, <br />as United Nations Day and do call upon all citizens, schools, civic <br /> <br />groups and agencies of the press and radio to apprapriate~y obs:rve <br /> <br />this date. <br /> <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal <br /> <br />of the City of San Marcos to be affixed. <br /> <br />(\~,,711~J <br /> <br />Calvin M.
