It was also requested by the local San li:arcos
;{rchery Club that the City assist them oy permitting the fO(J[Jing machine to spray
their course on the Old Post :load occasionally during toe summer. The Council
agreed tha t they would comply wi th this, r<>quest as r,equired.

[Iir. .Jim Tuttle had requested .tha.t the City consider edtering into a contract
wi th him to further extend sewer a.nd .vater to Blocks 5 ,c- (, of the Cedar Plateau
;\ddition. [',Jr. 'l'uttle owns this property and is interested i:1 subdivision improve-
ments. The cost is estimated to. be :;3,500.00 for the (," sewer line and 6" water
liile extensions. i..r. Tuttle has offered to assume one half t:le cost of the
extensions if the City will aS,sume the othe.r half. ,Hter some discussion the City
Council agreed that this was, the sar18 type of arrangement wl1ich the City had
previously ",ade with Lr. Ilager,s under. similar conditions, therefore the common
consent of the Council was to, make thjs contract with Lr. Tuttle as described, on
the condition that the City's equity. wiJl ariiortize it,selfin five (5) years.

l-:ext the Council cOilsidereda request from <'aul J. nogers that the City pay
the expense of a pump which. was installed to slipply water to the Spring Lake Eills
:,dditiin prior to the time of annexation, namely the SU",Her and fall 01 1')57. me
rental on the pump' for this period amounts to Olle Hundred Forty Five lJollars and
Thirty Cell ts (.;1115.30). Investietation indicated that originally the Ci ty was only
to furnish wate~ to the area1 ~;r. Rogers having installed and owned the pipes.
SometinJe; about 1955t the City gave illr. aOCJers an old piston type pump which T.:r.
i"louers had rebui,lt at his own expense. '.:.']lis was used for about a year. However.
in 1956 the City furnisl1ed ancl instaHed a new li,:" pump to furnish wa-ter to the
addi ti,on. This pump could mt prociuce enough water for the needs .and, in 1957,
J~r. Joqers obtained a pmnp i'rOGl ::;an j...ntonio i~achjl1e ~- :iupply Company at his own
expense. This is the pump on which the rent \vas, under consideration. 'I'he electric
bill for this pump has always been paid by the City, In view of the fact that
only par, of the houses in this addition were in the City limits prior to the
time of annexation, and since the City has always assumed the cost of the electric
bill. for the pump, the Council felt that the City had absolved their part of the
responsibility for furnishing adequate water to that addition.

kt the regular meeting of the City Council on Ja,nuary 20, 1959, the City
j'.ianaQcr was authorized to ad\rcrtise for bids 011 fencing for the two city owned
lots that will be used as storagc) areas. It was requested by City [I,allager Fuller
that the Council also allow bie to put the utility storage and yard on the
Fredericksburg Street site and erect there a snlall building to be llsed as an
office. :'he outlay of r,',aterials for this office building was estimated to be
,);100.00., 'll1e Council agreed t~la.t this office mi~ht be constructed as requested.

It was brought to the attention of the Council that when street lights
were authorized for th,e J. 3. '~Vilson and J-. M. 3tone .-:~ddi tions., one liUht, v~as
omitted at the corner 01' {"ead and l\litch..ell, It ,vas aCirced by comn\on consent of
the Council that a light be installed at this location.

kr. H. /~. 1\e1son had req:18sted that the Ci ty f;lOve the l'ire-Ilydrant from the
corner at the ir:tel'section of Colorado and .~~ustin Streets in order that he Elay
COlistruct a filli]]i] st,atiol1i at this location. id'ter some discussion the Council
a~;reed t.hat the" Ci ty would move the fire-hydrant as requested, provided that t'~r.
~elson bear the expense of this operation.

The Cound 1 next considereu a reQuest by the ilmerican Legion that the City
provide a location, a place to fill water trul/ks, nnd uniformed police at each
per formnnce of the Circus which the Anierican Legion is sponsoring in San i\larCOS
on Thursday, f,;arch 12. The Council agreed that the City would be unable to
furnish a location within the City limits for the circus, and therefore would not
be obligated to furnish uniformed policemen, since the circus would then be
within the ~urisdiction of the County Sheriff. However, the Council agreed that
the circus water trucks might be filled at one of the established water points
for rural users.

City 1anager ~uller read a letter from City Attorney ,Morgan stating that
the question of a four year term for city officials may now be submitted to a
vote if the Council so desires. l.Iter some discussion. jJ~lderllian Korff made a
motion, seconded by :Udermnn hi llburn, that Ci ty Attorney r.lorlJan be au thorized
to prepare the papers necessary to SUbElit the question of a four year term to
the voters at the ~~pril 1. 1959.. election.
