;j AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING THE RECORDER OF THE CORPORATION COURT, SETTING THE TERM OF OFFICE AND FIXING THE COMPENSATION, WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos operates under the general laws of the State of Texas and has heretofore under the provisions of Article 1197A I of the revised Civil Statutues of the State of Texas provided by ordinance for the appointment and qualifications of the recorder of the Corporation Court in this City, and, WHEREAS, the City Council on April 3, 1957, appointed James S. Burwell to the office or Recorder of Corporation Court for a term of two years, commencing on April 3, 1957, and terminating on April 2, 1959, or until his successor shall have duly qualified, and, WHEREAS, the said appointment of James S. Burwell has expired; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS: SECTION 1. James S. Burwell, a citizen of San Marcos in Hays County, Texas, shall be and hereby appointed to the office of Recorder of Corpora- I tion Court of this City. SECTION 2. The term of office of the said James S. Burwell shall commence on April 8, 1959, and shall terminate on April 5, 19 SECTION 3. In the event a successor to the said James S. Burwell shall not have qualified on or prior to April 5, 19 ,then the said James S. Burwell shall serve in said office until a successor shall have duly qualified. SECTION 4. The compensation of the said James S. Burwell shall be fixed from time to time by the City Manager or by the Governing Body. SECTION 5. In addition to his duties as Recorder of the Corporation Court, the said James S. Burwell shall perform such other duties as may from time to time be assigned him by the city Manager or by the Governing I Body. SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect as of April 8, 1959.
