After some discussion <br />Alderman Korff made a motion, seconded by Alderman Hillburn, that it appeared <br />to the best interest of the City to ask Berretta-Greenslade & Associates to begin <br />the preliminary engineering work on a bridge to cross the San Marcos River at <br />Hopkins Street for the submitted fee of $500. The motion was passed by a unanimous <br />vote of the Council. <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller reported to the Council that Bonds IS - 21 inclusive of <br />the :-Jighway "81" Fund, held in escrow for the City by the Frost National Bank, <br />will be due 6-l-S9. Since the City owns these bonds it was requested that a I <br />Resolution be passed calcelling the bonds on their due date. Alderman Tuttle <br />introduced a Resolution, which was seconded by Alderman Beecroft, that the City <br />cancel Bonds IS - 21 inclusive of the Highway "81" Fund. The ayes and nayes <br />were as follows: <br /> <br />Ayes: Beecroft <br />Davis <br />Hillhurn <br />Korff <br />Tuttle <br />Nayes; None <br /> <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Resolution passed and approved. <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller reported that the City had two small inactive accounts, <br />one being a.balance of $22.79 in the Fire Station Fund, and one of $931.35 in <br />the Utility Special Fund. He requested that the Council authorize him to transfer <br />the balance of the Fire Station Fund to the Sinking Fund for retirement of the <br />fire station bonds, and to transfer the balance of the Utility Special Fund to the <br />fund for Sewer Improvements- 1959, WPC-Tex-20. Alderman Hillburn made a motion <br />seconded by Alderman Korff, that City Manager Fuller be authorized to transfer these <br />funds as requested. The motion was passed by a unanimous vote of the Council. <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller suggested that the Council consider some type of fire <br />protection in Precinct #1, outside the City limits. Ii was further suggested <br />that the type of protection to be offered be a specialized truck, specially <br />manufactures and equipped for fighting ~rass fire. The City'Manager suggested <br />various means of financing this service.
