The motion was seconded by AldeDBan Tuttle. <br />Upon roll call the ayes and nayes were as followSI <br /> <br />Ayeu Beecroft- <br />Davis <br />Ko rff <br />Tuttle <br />Nayeu None <br /> <br />Whereupon the Mayor Pro Tem declared the ordinance passed, approved, and <br />adopted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller informed the Gouncil that the audit of the City's <br />books for the 1958-59 fiscal year had been returned. He recolllllended that <br />the balance sheet be published, and the Council members agreed with this <br />ncolIIDendation. <br /> <br />Mr. Archie Weatherford is planning to subdivide his land on Highway <br />#81 south of the Circle. He asked that water and sewer lines be extended to <br />provide service to this area. The Council members agreed that these utilities <br />be extended to Mr. Weatherford's property in conformity with existing policy <br />and on the same basis as they had been extended to other subdivisions. <br /> <br />Captain Pleming, Ingineering officer assigned to deactivation of Camp <br />Gary, had requested permission to dispose of the refuse collected in Camp <br />Gary at the City's disposal grounds. After some discussion the Councit <br />agreed that Camp Gary could dump one truck load of refuse each week at the <br />Ci ty dump grounds free of charge. <br /> <br />Mr. R. B. Boos of Brownsville had contacted the City's utility depart- <br />IIlent relative to the extension of water and sewer lines to the sf te of his <br />proposed motel on Highway #81 north of the hospital. Mr. Bunting who owns <br />property on the highway had also expressed interest in acquiring utilities <br />to the land in that area. After some discussion the Council agreed to extend <br />the utility lines to this area as requested on the same'~asis as sUDilar <br />lines have been constructed. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller noted that provision had been made in the 1959-60 <br />Budget for a Deputy Fire Chief, although none had been hired as yet. City <br />Manager Fuller reported to the Council that Mr. Edward C. Serur had been <br />employed in the capacity of training officer and acting Deputy Fire Chef. <br />In addition, Mr. Serur would assist the City Manager in Civil Defense Train- <br />ing. After a discussion of Mr. Sertir's qualifications, Alderman Korff made <br />a motion, seconded by Alderman Beecroft, that the action of the City Manager <br />be approved. The motion was passed by a unanimous vote of the Council. <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller presented the following list of street lights which <br />bave been requested, . <br />A. Wallace Addition <br />B. Mill Street <br />C. Wilson Street <br />D. Cedar Plateau Addition <br />Alderman Beecroft made a motion, seconded by Alderman Korff that the requested <br />street lights be installed. The motion was passed by a unanimous vote of <br />the Council. <br /> <br />City Manager Fuller told the Council that the City Treasurer had made <br />application for additional funds from the State Finmen's Relief & Retirement <br />Fund to overcome a deficit which exists in the local pension fund. The I <br />present pension requiremens are $188.51 more per month than the income. After <br />funds are nceived frolll the State Fund, the local fund will have a remaining <br />deficit of $629.04 required to lIleet the monthly payments until January 1, <br />1960. After some discussion of the means of handling this deficit, the Council <br />members decided to give the matter further study and consider it again at a <br />later date. <br /> <br />A letter from Wm. J. Graham to Mayor Allen was read to the Council, <br />expressing his appreciation for the courtesy shown him and his employees by <br />the citizens of San Marcos. <br />
