Mrs. Read asked if a <br />lower value of properties left on hand would be considered for taxation? <br />The Council agreed this would be entirely up to the Board of Equalization. <br />Mrs. King inquired as to how the right-of-way would affect her being able to <br />have a driveway and access to it. Mr. Fuller and Mr. Tuttle were appointed <br />to contact Ml&. King'and go ov~r her problem on location. <br /> <br />The question of whether the property ownerS would be represented by an <br />appraiser of their choice was discussed. Mayor Allen stated that the Council <br />favored the owners appointing one member, however, he suggested that the <br />City Attorney be contacted for a legal opinion. The Mayor directed that the <br />property owners be notified of the results of the City Attorney's opinion in <br />this matter. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager repoTted on suggested improvements to relieve the bad <br />drainage condition on Barbara Drive. After a discussion, the Council re- <br />ferred the matter back to the City Manager for a report on acquiring the <br />drainage way Tequired. ' <br /> <br />The bad drainage situation on Patricia Drive was discussed and Alder- <br />man Korff and Tuttle volunteered to work with the City Manager to obtain <br />the additional right-of-way required for a drainage ditch. <br /> <br />The MayoT presented a Resolution expressing the Council's appreciation <br />for the help given Texas cities by the Honorable Max Smith, Represen~ive <br />from this area, in the last legislature. -Resolution carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported on the progress made on the sewer plant and <br />force line improvements. He further reported that $5,000 of the $50,000 <br />Sewer Plant Improvement Warrants have been repaid. This was the sum bor- <br />rowed on a short-term basis to help finance the improvements. <br /> <br />The Mayor and city Manager were designated to attend a conference on <br />Planning City Traffic Improvements at A & M'College on November 18 & 19. <br /> <br />A verbal report was made to the Council by the Mayor and City Manager <br />regarding the visit to Camp Gary by Air Force Under-Secretary Sharp. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The matter of a carnival and circus ordinance was discussed. The Mayor <br />suggested that the City Manager write the League to obtain ordinance materials <br />for camparison with an ordinance which the Council has had under consideration <br />for sometime. <br /> <br />Mr. Archie Weatherford had requested the City Manager to install a sewer <br />line to Lot 7 of the existing Weatherford Addition, filed for record at the <br />Courthouse February 15, 1945, and annexed to the City March 13, 1951. After <br />some discussion, Mayor Allen asked City Manager Fuller to investigate the <br />City's responsibility an the matter. <br /> <br />Mr. Tuttle asked that all church non-income property either be removed <br />from' the tax rolls in favor of all churches or all put on the rolls.
