The minutes of the meetings of October 13th, October 20th and November 2nd were approved. The first item of business was to hear a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce Airport Committee to discuss repairs to the airport, Mr. Roy Avey spokesman. Mr. Avey .first made clear the need for improvements. He noted that the long runway might very well be considered unsafe. He said that flying is becoming very popular and a good airport is almost a neces- sity to a growing town. Mr. Gene Turpin, President of the Chamber of Commerce, stated that some planes have been damaged trying to land. Mr. Lowman added that there are many businessmen coming into San Marcos who would like to travel by air. Mr. Bert Beecroft warned that if City help was not obtained now the commit- tee might lose the County support already promised. Mayor Allen asked what the committee wanted from the City exactly. Mr. Avey replied that the goal for now is paving the long runway. The base materials have been donated.
