These records are now maintained at Pennington Funeral
Home by Registrar Brunette Tiller. Mayor Allen read a portion of a
letter from the City Attorney which stated that the duties of registrar
are to be perfonned by the City Secretary. Alderman Korff made a motion
that the City r"anager take steps to have the City Secretary assume the
duties of registrar of vital statistics and that all records be main-
tained at the City Hall, effective February 1, 1960. Alderman Hillburn
seconded the motion, which carried with all members in favor.

Mr. Weatherford stated that his firm was equipped for ambulance
service and requested, that should ambulance service be required by the
City, that it he divided equally between the two firms owning ambu-
lances. Mrs. Pennington concurred in this suggestion and the City
Manager informed the Council "that a roster would be maintained by the
Police Department Dispatcher to assure equal distribution of calls for
service from the City.

The matter of sale of cemetery lots was discussed.
informed the Council that ail lots were sold at the City
funeral home wished to keep a map or record of the sale,
their expense.

The City Manager
Hall and if any
it would be at

A letter from the Missouri-Pacific Railroad regarding the proposed
Hopkins Street bridge was discussed. Because of difficulty in
getting firm estimates for moving certain buildings, the Council in-
structed the City Manager to proceed with final settlement on a lump
sum cash basis and suggested an offer of $850.00 be made.

The Council received a petition, with 74 signatures, requesting
that the City extend seWer service to the Wallace Addition. The Council
noted the need for this extension and referred it to the City Manager
for a cost estimate with suggestion thet it be programmed for construction
in 1960-61 fiscal year. This improvement will have to be coordinated with
tbe Texas Highway Department in the widening of Interstate 35 to prevent
conflict with the new right-of-way.
