<br />M~ ORDIN~CE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
<br />OF S~ ~~RCOS, TEXAS C~VASSING RETURNS ~D
<br />DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE RUNOFF ELECTION
<br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING COUNCIL MEMBER,
<br />PLACE 3 AND COUNCIL MEMBER PLACE 4 ON THE
<br />S~ ~1ARCOS CITY COUNCIL HELD ON MAY 2, 1981;
<br />~D DECLARING ~ EMERGENCY.
<br />
<br />WHEP~AS, on April 6, 1981, the City Council of the City
<br />of San Marcos, Texas, ordered a special runoff election to
<br />be held on May 2, 1981, for the purpose of determining the
<br />sUQcessful candidates for Council Member, Place 3 and Council
<br />Member, Place 4 on the San Marcos City Council, no person
<br />having gained a majority of the votes cast for those positions
<br />in the April 4, 1981, general election; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly published in
<br />the San Marcos Daily Record on April 16, 1981; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, copies of the Notice of City Election, City of
<br />San Marcos, Texas were duly posted at each city election pre-
<br />cinct polling place prior to said election; and,
<br />
<br />~1HEREAS, said election was duly and legally held on the
<br />2nd day of May, 1981 in conformity with the election laws of
<br />the State of Texas, and the results of said election have been
<br />certified and returned by the proper judges and clerks thereof;
<br />and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas,
<br />with the following members present, John J. Stokes, Mayor Pro-
<br />Tempore; Council Members Karl Brown, Robert L. Cavazos and Berry
<br />R. James, has today considered the returns of said election held
<br />on the 2nd day of May, 1981; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, it appears to the Council, and the Council so
<br />finds, that the said election was in all respects lawfully held;
<br />and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, it appears to the Council and the Council so finds,
<br />that the tabulation of the results of said election is correct;
<br />now, therefore,
<br />
<br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN ~~RCOS,
<br />TEXAS:
<br />
<br />SECTION 1. That the tabulation of votes cast in the runoff
<br />election held on the 2nd day of May, 1981, a copy of which is
<br />attached hereto and made a part hereof, be and the same is hereby
<br />adopted as the official tabulation of the votes cast at said
<br />election and that said tabulation be filed and recorded in the
<br />official records of the City of San Marcos as the official
<br />canvass of said election.

<br />SECTION 2. That the said official canvass of the returns
<br />of said election reflects the following:
