~ ::::::l ~ n tr.l The city Manager reported on a conference with Mr. Harry Merritt, Area Manager of GSA Building Management Division, and Mr. VanBibber, ldcal custodian of the Federal building, regarding needed drainage improvements to the area. The Council considered several points and authorized the City Manager to take necessary action with the GSA authorities to assure that the deficiencies were corrected. On the motion of Alderman Korff, seconded by Alderman Hillburn, the City Manager was authorized to purchase two 60-seat port- able bleacher sections at a cost of $275.80 plus delivery costs. I It was the decision of the Council that the second phase of airport improvements be completed as rapidly as the work could be schedul- ed. The Council authorized work of channel improvements to Purgatory Creek as soon as the deeds for the needed right-of-way are delivered to the City. .'J(2ffYl ~i; A request by Cameron Lumber Co. for a parking :~was denied as this is contrary to the established policy regarding issuance of parking permits. A request that the Caravanners be given "courtesy" parking during their visit to San Marcos in January 1961 was denied upon recommendation that this type of permit might bring criticism from the rural shoppers in the trade-area. The matter of additional transportation for the Police Department WaS deferred until the January 1961 meeting. The City Manager reported on a preliminary sketch of the Holt-Horton Subdivision which had been submitted to him for checking. The Plat, as presented, did not conform to the Sub-division Ordinance and the Council requested that the Plat be resubmitted at the January 1961 meeting with corrections. The residents in the Greendale area, who had objected to the subdivision, are to be notified that the matter will be considered at the January meeting. I The City Manager was authorized to work with Mr. Hugh Dickson in an attempt to get a settlement on his engineering contract for work on the sewage lift station and force main. After a discussion, the Council appointed Mr. Dare Williams election Judge and declared that only one box, at City Hall, would be open for voting ae the January 17, 1961 election.
