"

~,
:::0
~
n
t:r.l

Alderman Sutton made a motion granting permission to Mr. Irwin
Miller to install two 6,000 gallon underground storage (oil) tanks at
his new site at the intersection of Love Street with Guadalupe Street.
Alderman Ruiz seconded, motion carried.

Alderman Younger moved that the council approve a request from
the LCRA that ,the city grant an easement across the land at the sewage I
disposal plant. This will provide better electrical service to the
Hays County Hospital and the area in that vicinity. Alderman Hillburn
seconded, motion carried. '

The City Manager presented for the Council's consideration
a suggested contract for water service at Camp Gary. In general
the suggested contract called for a monthly minimum charge of '222.55
(annual minimum of $2,670.60) for a consumption of 1,000,000 gallons;
water consumed in excess of the monthly minimum to be at 20~ per
thousand gallons; 'pri'vate individuals, private corporations or
other than state and Federal users on the base would not be subject to
this rate; and, the contract to be on a five year basis. Alderman
Sutton moved that the City Manager's recommendations be approved and
the contract offered to the 4th Army for acceptance. This motion was
seconded by Alderman Hillburn and carried unaminously.

Alderman Hillburn made a motion that the City send three men
to the annual Fireman's Training School in College Station, July 23-28,
at a cost of approximately $60.00 per man plus travel. Alderman
Sutton seconded, motion carried.

Because of the expense as compared to income and the small
attendance at the Municipal Swimming Pool, the City Manager recommended
that the pool be closed at the close of business on July 30th. After
Some discussion Alderman Younger moved that even though it is costing I
the city, the worthwhile project should be continued and,the pool
should be left open until after Labor Day. Alderman Hillburn seconded,
motion carried.

The Business Manager at'SwrSC had submitted a request that the
City restrict parking on North Austin Street from Roanoak to Pleasant
Street to holders of the COllege's "R" Parking Permit. This permit
is issued to faculty and permanent staff of the College. The Council
carefully considered the legal aspects of such permission and agreed
that it would be difficult to enforce as this type of ordinance would
have questionable validity. It has been the desire of the Council to
cooperate to the fullest extent with the College and it was with deep
regret that the request was denied.

Mr. Senson, Uhland Road requested that the City extend sewer
service to his residence. It is the policy of the city to extend service
60 feet for each connection and since Mr. Senson's request for 2 con-
nections would be distance of 260 feet the city could allow an exten-
sion of only 120 feet. It i~ the Council's desire not to deviate
from their policy.

The City Manager requested that the Council approve parallel
parking on the East side of South Austin Street from Love Street east-
ward to McKie Creek in order to benefit residents of Chapultepec
Unit of the Housing Authority and to discourage parking on the grass
area. The Council concured that this shOUld be done and included
in their approval that the police department be instructed to issue
tickets to anyone parking on the grassed areas.

I

Alderman Sutton requested that the City Manager be present on
Tuesday nights to explain certain City operation and answer questions
from Alderman Ruiz, Younger and himself. City Manager, Fuller stated
that he would be happy to meet with the members and, invited all the
council members to attend.
