The Council continued the present price schedule <br />for perpetual care in effect until March 15, 1962 at which time <br />the Council will review the prices to determine if they should <br />be adjusted.' <br /> <br />The City Manager was directed to submit, for approval at <br />the next Council meeting, recommended regulations relative to the <br />cemetery operation. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor ,and Council accepted with regret the resignation <br />of Mr. Ernest Morgan a~ City Attorney. They expressed their appre- <br />ciation for the great honor which had been afforded San Marcos by <br />the selection of Mr. Morgan as the U. S. District Attorney for the <br />Western District. The ~Council unaminously passed a Resolution of <br />Appreciation for the work done by Mr. Morgan. <br /> <br />Alderman Ruiz introduced an Ordinance and moved its <br />adoption. The ordinance is captioned: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANC;E AMENDING AN ORDINANCE ADOPTED <br />APRIL 5, 1961, APPOINTING CERTAIN CITY <br />,OFFICIALS <br /> <br />The ordinance was re~d in full and the motion of adoption was <br />seconded by Alderman Younger. Upon roll call the ayes and nays <br />werel <br />Ayes: Allen, Hillburn, Ruiz, Sutton, and Younger <br />Nays I None <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the ordinance passed, approved, <br />and adopted. <br /> <br />A request from the State Highway Department that the <br />City consider annexing that portion of Interstate 35 which will <br />go into the next construction project was referred to the City <br />Manager and City Attorney. The City Manager explained that the <br />reason for the request by the Highway Department was that it would <br />simplify their accounting procedure if all the construction were <br />in either a rural or an urban section and that it would assist the <br />City in getting the Interstate lighted. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that he had received a letter <br />of, resignation from City Secretary-Tax Assessor-Collector Judy <br />Brackett Tomlinson effective on or about August 31, 1961. Alderman <br />Hillburn moved that in appreciation for the splendid work which <br />Mrs. Tomlinson had done that her salary be increased by $40 per <br />month for the month of August 1961. This motion was seconded' by <br />Alderman Ruiz and upon roll call the ayes and nays werel <br /> <br />Ayes: Allen, Hillburn, and Ruiz <br />Nays: Sutton and Younger <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the motion passed. <br /> <br />Ihe City Manager 'explained that he had experienced some <br />difficulty in attending weekly drills in the Naval Reserve Unit of <br />which he was a member. It was explained that by attending one <br />week~end per month the entire month's drill requirement would <br />be fullfilled. ~t would necessitate, however, being absent from <br />,Work one Saturday morning each month. It was the unaminous <br />decision of the Council that this absence be authorized. <br /> <br />I <br />
