<br />JJft; <br /> <br />... <br />::::tj <br />~ <br />n <br />m <br /> <br />A request that parking be permitted on one side of South <br />Austin street from Cheatham Street to McKie street was referred to the <br />Chief of Police for study. <br /> <br />Vfuen the Council accepted the, San Marcos Cemetery under per- <br />petual Care, it was the intention of the City Council to provide spaces <br />for burial at a reasonable rate in a portion of the cemetery which would <br />not have perpetual care and would be available for persons of modest I <br />income to inter the, dead. This section was platted and identified as <br />the Dixon Addition, Section 1. Alderman Hillburn introduced a reso- <br />lution designating this section as a burial place of the dead and <br />moved its adoption.. The Resolution was read in full and the motion <br />of adoption Was seconded by alderman upon roll call the ayes and nays <br />were: <br />Ayes: Allen, Hillburn, Korff, Ruiz, Sutton, & Younger <br />Nays. None. <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Resolution Passed and Approved, a <br />copy of the resolution is incorporated in these minutes and made a <br />part hereof. <br /> <br />Alderman Korff intrDduced. an Ordinance and mDved its adoption. <br />The Ordi nance 'i s entH I ed: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ?.EGUU\TING THE CONSTRUCTION <br />OF F ALLOur SHELTERS <br /> <br />The motion of adoption was seconded by AId erman Sutton and upon roll <br />call the ayes and nays were: <br />Ayes. Allen, Hillburn, Korff, Ruiz, sutton"pnd Younger. <br />Nays: None. <br />Whereupon Mayor Allen declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved, and <br />Adopted. <br /> <br />A request from the First Federal Savings & loan Company that <br />they be allowed to install two lighting standards between the sidewalk <br />and curb line at their new building was considered by the Council. The <br />necessity for the standards, possible alternate methods of lighting, <br />the hazard involved and the violation to the building code were consi- <br />dered by the Council. It was their unanimous decision that they not <br />deviate from established policy and issue a non4forming permit in this <br />matter. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the GSA had replied to the <br />City's letter concerning the drainage problem at the Federal Building <br />and had rejected the City's offer. He further reported that he had <br />been requested by Mr. Merritt to accompany him to Dallas to discuss the <br />matter with GSA officials. Members of the Council had advised against <br />this action. Alderman Younger requested that Congressman Thornberry <br />and Senator Yarborough be advised of the water problem and their as- <br />sistance requested in getting the matter settled. <br /> <br />Alderman Sutton requested that the members of the Cemetery <br />Association be sent a monthly statement of the financial condition of <br />the Cemetery Perpetual Care Trust Fund. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that all the work in the City Park <br />would be completed in time for the Pre-Mexico Rally of the Wally Byam <br />Caravan. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor Allen asked if there ..was any additional business to be <br />discussed, except the showing of the film on public wor-ks which has been <br />order-ed. He excused himself from the Council room at which time members <br />of the press left with him. <br /> <br />Alderman Ruiz stated that he had a matter which he would like <br /> <br />~.\c, <br />
