Alde:rman Stokes introduced the subject <br />ofgivi9g serious consideration to the overall parking problems of <br />San Marcos. The Mayor stated that the City Manager was in the process <br />of making an extensive survey for the present and future parking needs <br />of San Marcos. , All Aldermen entered into a discussion of the parking I <br />situation. each advancing his views and offering suggestions for possible <br />solution of the problem that plagues all growing cities. <br /> <br />Alde7llllllR Swift lIlOved. that the Council go into Executive Session. Dial Chief of Police , &$ of OCtober 9, 1962, <br />wu read in full &nd discussed. It was the decision of the Council that the <br />Chief of Police should assume full &dministrative responsibility for the <br />Police Department, and that, the City Manager should be relieved of supervh4i <br />ory duties and rellponsibilities in the Police Department. It was agreed that <br />~bould the Ordinance be adopted, Chie.f Dial would receive a salaryincreue <br />from $425 to $450 per month.A1de:rman Rui~ seCOnded the motion for adoption, <br />and upon roll call the following vote was l'tcordedt <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE. lIoore. Rub. stokes, Swift <br />NAY I Younger <br /> <br />Whereupon, Mayor Allen declared the Ordinance PASSED, APPROVED AJID ADOPTED. <br /> <br />. Aldetlllen Swift proposed the llaIIe.s (If' seven persons to fill tneposts of <br />the Planning ConIIlission. other n..es were discussed; SOlIe persons were <br />found to be ineligible because they live outside the corporate liBlite of <br />the City. After considering s~e nineteen persons, it.,. unanimpu~1y <br />agre4id to. ask the following seven persons to serve as m_ers of the <br />Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Mr. Carl Christman, Dr,. Mr. John Stokes, and Mrs. })avid Wh~t!" <br /> <br />The City Manager read a' letter from the Library Board in regard to plans <br />for a new Ubrary. The City Manager suggested that the letter be turned <br />over to the PlaMing eo-ission for incorporation into the MasterPlan <br />for the City of San Marcos. The .
