I

CITY OF SAN MARCOS

SAN MARCOS. .TEXAS

FOR CONSIDERATION OF CITY COUNCIL

Malcolm Sherill: Wrights Sporting Goods Building
San Marcos Addn. Block 11, Pt. of Lot 3

Mr. Sherrill rendered this property in ample time for 1962 taxes
at a value of $4,500. The Board of Equalization raised the value
of this building for 1962 to $5,000. It was the intention of the
Board to notify Mr. Sherrill of this increase, but the person XMx
addressing the notices mailed the notice to the previous owner,
Mr. W. D. Talmadge, by mistake. The notice was returned by the
"ost Office marked" Deceased-Unclaimed". Therefore Mr. Sherrill
was not advised of the increase. Mr. Sherrill did meet with the
Board to discuss the value of his home and saLd he would surely
have discussed the change in value of the building if he had been
aware of any increase.

I

Since Mr. Sherrill was not notified and could not discuss the
mat~er with the Board, he insists that he should pay on the basis
of his rendition of $4,500" rather that the increase value of
~5,ooo. The actual differ~nce in taxes being $10.00.

I
