<br />r--I' <br /> <br />(,' <br /> <br />special meeting feb. 5, 1963 page 2 <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Council that the Housing and Home Finance <br />Agency had approved, as of January 29, 1963, the Open Space Land Program, <br />Tex OS-I, the acquisition of the Coy DeViney (Gilcrease) property; and <br />that Mr. DeViney had accepted a$ partial payment the sum of Five Thousand <br />Dollars ($5,000), and is submitting to the City Attorney the necessary <br />abstract and other material for the deed of conveyance. Mr. DeViney had <br />asked, and the City had accepted, a period not to exceed 45 days in which <br />to complete the transaction. Alderman Stokes moved that the City Manager <br />be authorized to sign the contract for the City. Alderman Swift seconded <br />the motion, and, on roll call, the following vote was recorded; <br /> <br />AYE: Moore, Ruiz, Stokes, Swift <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Whereupon the Mayor Pro-Tern declared the motion adopted. <br /> <br />The City Manager called attention to a letter received from ~r. Paul Rogers, <br />requesting that the City increase the rental paid him on the Golf Course <br />from $100 to $150 per month. The City Manager recommended that the <br />i,' matter be turned over to the Planning Commission and/ or the Local Public <br />Agency, prior to action by the City. There was general discussion on the <br />subject. Alderman Swift moved that the matter of a new contract with <br />Mr. Rogers, at the proposed increase, be turned over to the Planning <br />Commission for study, with a recommendation from the Council that the <br />Commission explore the possibility of purchasing the Golf Course from <br />Mr. Rogers. Alderman Stokes seconded the motion. On roll call, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Moore, Ruiz, Stokes, Swift <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />Whereupon, the Mayor Pro-Tern declared the motion adopted. <br /> <br />The City Manager conveyed a request from Mr. Kenneth Weatherford that <br />the Chapel of San Marcos Funeral Home be added to the ambulance list for <br />calls by the Police Department, and recommended that Pennington and I <br />Weatherford be called on alternate months. Alderman Ruiz moved that <br />the two funeral homes be placed on the list for calls on alternate <br />months. Alderman Swift seconded the motion, and, on roll call, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE; Moore, Ruiz, Stokes, Swift <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />Whereupon, the Mayor Pro-Tem declared the motion adopted. <br /> <br />The City Manager informed the Council that the Texas Water Pollution <br />Control Board has issued to the City of San Marcos Permit No. 10273, <br />dated January 23, 1963. This permit allows the City to dispose of <br />effluent from the sewijge disposal plant into the Blacno River, until; <br />such time as the permit is cancelled or amended., <br /> <br />The City Manager conveyed a request from Harrell Tietjen, a student at <br />San Marcos High School, to place 46 sheep for grazing at the disposal <br />plant. There was also a request from Mr. Fred Gil, to lease the land <br />for grazing cattle. The City Manager recommended that the land not be <br />leased at this time, since the fence is inadequate, and it would be <br />necessary to fence the front area 'where highway construction required <br />the removal of the fence; and that the matter be delayed until definite <br />plans for the use of the land be determ4ned. Alderman Swift moved <br />that the recommendation of the City Manager be accepted. Alderman Stokes I <br />seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. <br /> <br />The 9ity Manager referred to a letter from the Fire ~re~enti?n an? . <br />Engineering Bureau regarding the extension of the ex~stlng F~re Llmlts <br />in San Marcos. Alderman Swift expressed the opinion that the Fire <br />Limits should not include anything on the west side of Fredericksburg <br />Street.
