Alderman Pool seconded the
motion, which passed unanimously.

Alderman Ruiz moved that the City Manager be instructed to have the
restrooms at the City Park ballfield cleaned and repaired, lights
installed and "Men" and "Women" signs posted, with a completion date
of June 14. Alderman Stokes seconded the motion, which carried unani-
mously.

II
I

Alderman Ruiz introduced the subject of employee raises as provided for
in the 1963-1964 Budget, and asked the City Manager if every employee
who was recommended for a raise in the Budget received it on his last
check. The City Manager said he believed all bu~two laborers received
the recommended raises. The question of "merit r'aises" as opposed to
proposed raises was brought up. The Mayor said it was his understanding
that a merit raise was put in the Budget, to be given at such time as
recommended by supervisory personnel. Mr. Ruiz made reference to certain
specific employees and asked why they had not received their raises. It
was agreed by common consent that Mr. Ruiz and Mr. Fuller would go over
the salary scale of all City personnel. Alderman Ruiz stated he would
report back to the Council on his findings.

The Council received a recommendation from the Tax Assessor-Collector
regarding tax assessments which should be removed from the rolls. A
letter and lists in the form of exhibits accompanied the recommendation
and are attached as a part of the Minutes. Exhibit "A" was a letter
from the Tax Assessor-Collector regarding taxes assessed in error in
1956 on Lots 3,4,5 & 6, W.o. Meiners Sub-division, belonging to Charles
A. Zunker. Alderman Pool moved that the 1956 value on the referenced
lots be corrected on the tax rolls as an "error in fact", as recommend-
ed in Exhibit "A".
