<br />(jj' J t <br />1M ! <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE 1960-61 <br />EDItION OF THE SOUTHERN STANDARD <br />BUILDING CODE, PARt N - HOUSING; <br />ADDING A CHAPTER V: CONFLICTING <br />ORDINANCES; PROVIDING A SAVINGS ClAUSE; <br />AND, ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTNE D/l.TE. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREI\.S, it is the belief of the Governing Body of the <br />City of San Marcos, Tex.as, that the best interest of all of the <br />citizens of San Marcos may best be served by the enactment of <br />standards regulating construction, alteration, or additions to <br />buildings; and, <br /> <br />WHEREI\.S, it is intended that the enactment of this and <br />other ordinances regulating control shall be remedial in character <br />and beneficial to the public health, safety and general welfare <br />of the citizens of San Marcos. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORD/l.INED by the Governing Body <br />of the City of San Marcos, Texas, as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. The 1960-61 Edition of the Southern Standard <br />Building Code, Part N - Housing, is hereby adopted. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. A new chapter V is incorporated as a part <br />of this Code to read as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />"Chapter V - Conflicting Ordinances: It is <br />the intent that Part N - Housing, of the Southern <br />Standard Building Code, shall supplement existing <br />ordinances. Any ordinance, word, phrase, clause, section <br />or sentence of any ordinance which shall impose a <br />more restrictive requirement shall govern and this <br />ordinance shall be subordinate thereto." <br /> <br />SECTION 3. Part N of the Southern Standard Building Code <br />is adopted in its printed form and is available for inspection as <br />a part of this Ordinance as though it were incorporated herein. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or <br />section of this ordinance shall be found unconstitutional <br />or invaJid by a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall <br />not impair or invalidate the remaining portions thereof. <br /> <br />SECTION 5.
