Tlle City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, met in recessed
regular session in City Hall on the 26th day of August, A.D.. 1963,
a quorum being present. The Mayor called the meeting to order and
announced the public hearing to review the Urban Renewal Plan of
Chautauqua Hill Project TEX H-73. as duly called and announced for
7:30 p.m., to be in session.

Attention was called to the large map of the Project on the wall,
and the meeting declared open for questions. One visitor asked why
the meeting was called. The Mayor explained that the Chautauqua Project
Plan was now completed and ready to be presented to HHFA in Fort Worth,
and a public hearing was required as the last action. He introduced
J.T. Banister, Director of the Local Public Agency. who was ready to
answer questions. Following are some of tne more pertinent questions
and answers that came out of tne public hearing I

q. When will we hear what we are going to get for our property?
A. Probably the latter part of September.

Q. Can this property be condemned?
A. Under the law, yes.

Q. How much time will we have in which to move?
A. The Agency will give adequate time. College needs for certain
properties would dictate the time element.

Q. Can we see the appraisals?
A. No, the offer will be made on the basis of two appraisals.

Q. If I refuse the offer, and ask more, what would happen?
A. This might necessitate a third appraisal. Tne Agency will attempt
to negotiate.
