1/ I AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR REWARD FOR THE CONVICTION OF ANY PERSON OR PERSONS FOUNB GUILTY Of THE CRIME OF ARSON; FIXING THE AMOUNT OF REWARD; PUBLIC DISPALY OF NOTICES OF REWARD; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES, RESOLUT- IONS, OR PARTS THEREOF IN CONLICT THEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE; AND ESTABLISH- ING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interest of the cit i zens of San Marcos, in the reduction of fire hazards, that the Govern- ing Body provide a standing reward to be paid for the apprehen- sion and conviction of any person pI' persons found to be gui Ity of the crime of arson in the City of San Marcos, Texas; and, WHEREAS, the State Board of Insurance has fixed the sum of $250 as the minimum reward for arson and the City must conform in order to be eligible for credit under the Key Rate Schedule. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Governing Body of the City of San Marcos, Texas: SECTION I The City of San Marcos will pay a reward for the arrest and conviction in a court of competent jurisdiction, of any person or persons found to be gui Ity of the crime of arson within the city limits of San Marcos. I SECTION II The amount of said reward shall be the sum of $250.00, payable from the General Fund of the City of San Marcos. SECTION III Placards of eight inches by twelve inches in size showing the amount of the reward which is offered shal I be placed in wooden frames, under glass, and displayed in at least twelve (12) different publ ic bui Idings. A certified copy of the ordinance, a coPy of the placard and a list of the bui ldings where the placards have been posted shall be furnished to the State Board of Insurance. SECTION IV AI I ordinances, resolutions, or parts thereof in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION V If any word, phrase, clause or sentence of this ordinance shall be declared invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not invalidate the remaining portions of this ordinance. I SECTION VI This ordinance shal I be in effect on and after its legal passage by the Governing Body and the date of its legal publication. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of September, A.
