They were examined by the Council and the visitors at the meeting
were invited to view them. Alderman Stokes moved that the Council send a
letter of appreciation to the Art Department, commending the students for
their fine work. Alderman Pool seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
The designs will be forwarded to the Planning and Zoning Commission for
their consideration.

The City Manager reported he had arranged for the Council to appear before
the Texas State Highway Commission at 9130 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20.
The San Marcos City Council has been placed on the agenda as "Delegation
No.3". The City Manager was asked to prepare the presentation for the
Council's request to the Highway Commission.

v'

The City Manager presented a request from Mr. Walter, Feltner for additional
paving in Sunset Acres Addition. Mr. Feltner agreed to furnish the material
for paving, if the City would furnish labor and equipment. The City Manager
said it would be "about fifty-fifty" proposition. By common consent, the -'
Council instructed the City Manager to consult with Mr. Feltner, estimate the
cost of the paving, and report back to the Council.

I

The City Manager reported two requests for utility services outside
the City Limits. Mr. Otto Twidwell owns adjacent lots, one inside the
City Limits, the other, outside. It was agreed service can be furnished
him if he requests annexation on the second lot, where he expects to place v
a house and trailer. The second request was from Mr. Eutiquio Torres,
who lives on the River Road. Mr. Torres will be advised that he may
contact his neighbors and try to bring the whole area into the City Limits.
Service cannot be extended to him outside the City Limits.

~~
~'";

Mr. Elwood Soechting, acting as spokesman for a group of directors of
the Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Council to present a plan
for "rejuvenation of the Square". The plan would provide more parking
space in the downtown area. The plan was discussed thoroughly by the
Council and members of the delegation. It was agreed that the cooperation
of the Commissioners Court of Hays County would be needed to put the plan
into effect. The Council expressed itself as favorable to the plan, and,
by common consent, recommended that Mr. Soechting take the model before
the Planning and Zoning Commission for its approval and/or further
suggestions on implementing a general improvement plan for downtown
San Marcos.

:.:-,,~,
-~~.
.-
~'i

8r,y
