<br />Assessor-Collector George Reed had notified Mr. Holman that

<br />sent him this information?" The MayoT asked if it were the
<br />consent of the Council that Alderman Ruiz contact My. fIDlman,
<br />a.nd try to T8Scl ve any difficulties with the City, agreeing to
<br />pay him the M2Y fees now due, and the June fees on July 1, at
<br />the conclusion of his contTact. Members of the Council agreed
<br />on this action.

<br />The Mayor introduced 2 [flatter deferred from a previous tnE:2t.ing:
<br />the appointment of a seven-member Library Board. AldermanRuiz
<br />moved the appointment of Mrs. Flora Baker, Mrs. Ira Bowles,
<br />Wal teT L. "Bud" BuckneT, Dr. Benge Elliott, Dr. Ralph Houston,
<br />kiTS. Tom Oliver and Mrs. Gene SCTutchin to the newly-created
<br />Library BoaTd. Alderman ~~ittenberg seconded the motion, which
<br />passed unanimously.

<br />to the proposed Residential Vocational School at Camp Gary. The
<br />data wvsincludeo in a brochure being forwarded by TEA to the
<br />Department of Health, Education & Welfare in Washington.

<br />The Mayor reported that telephone conversations with Enos Axtell
<br />of Wally Byam Caravan Clubs, Inc. on June 24 indicate that San Marcos
<br />is being favorably considered for the site of the International
<br />Headquarters. He said several civic leaders had contacted him and
<br />urged that the City send City ManageT B.R. Fuller to Princeton, N.J.
<br />June 26 to meet with the Board of Trustees of that organization. He
<br />would accompany Kenneth Weatherford, representing the Chamber of
<br />Commerce. The Mayor said he felt it should be made clear to the
<br />Trustees that the policy of the Council would require that the land
<br />of the proposed site be annexed before City services could be furnished.
<br />Cost of extending services to the proposed Wally Byam InteTnational
<br />Rally Center was discussed. The City Manager said it would cost be-
<br />tween $12,000 and $l4,000. Alderman Ruiz commented that that was not
<br />a large investment in order to bring into the City an estimated I
<br />$l,OOO,OOO property when developed. Alderman Ruiz moved that the
<br />Council send Mr. Fuller to Princeton, N.J. to meet with the Wally
<br />Byam Clubs Board of Trustees. Alderman SerUr seconded the motion,
<br />which passed unanimously.

<br />Alderman SerUr moved the preparation of a Resolution welcoming the
<br />Wally Byam Caravan Clubs, Inc. to San Marcos. Alderman Ruiz seconded
<br />the motion, which passed unanimously.
<br />
<br />Alderman RUiz introduced for discussion the urgent need of more vehicles
<br />for the Police Department. Alderman Serur expressed the opinion that the
<br />City shOUld buy another vehicle. The question of whetheT the same bids
<br />received eaTlier in the month could be used for purchase of a second
<br />vehicle for the Police Department was discussed. Also discussed was the
<br />original plan of leasing vehicles for City use.

<br />The Council adjourned at 3:30 p.m., to reconvene June 29, 1964, at 7:30 p.m.
