Worrell <br />Bruce McElroy <br /> <br />Visitors: <br /> <br />Mrs. Jerri Veidt, Mrs. Carolyn Chandler, <br />Glenn Wicker <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Serur introduced for consideration of the Counci I, a <br />Resolution passed by the Planning & Zoning Commission, <br />requesting concurrence with their recommendation for ex- <br />tension of certain streets, and closing of others, due to <br />the expansion of the campus of San Marcos Academy and South- <br />west Texas State College. A map showing the proposed closing <br />and re-routing of streets was provided each Counci Iman. The <br />City Manager explained the changing traffic patterns occasion- <br />ed by new college buildings, and proposed expansion of the <br />Academy campus. Mr. Fuller said the Academy was prepared at <br />this time to deed right-of-way to the City for future street <br />extensions, and recommended that he be authorized to negotiate <br />with Academy officials to that end. He explained that there <br />was no money invblved, nor commitment that the City would act- <br />ually build the street in the near future. Alderman Whitten- <br />berg stated that if there were a definite commitment to bui Id <br />the extension of Comanche Street at a certain time, the Coun- <br />cil should know how much money was involved. The matter was <br />thoroughly discussed. Alderman Whittenberg moved that the rec- <br />ommendation of the Planning & Zoning Commission be accepted, <br />and that the City Manager be authorized to acquire the necess- <br />ary right-of-way. Alderman Pool seconded the motion, and on <br />roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Froh, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced a petition requesting annexation of <br />property in Col lege Heights on the northeast side of Austin <br />Street belonging to Mrs. Louise Moeller and son, Wi I liam <br />Moeller. Alderman Pool moved that the petition be formally <br />received by the Council.
