recessed special meeting, june 29, 1965 page two ,~ " , ~i/ AN ORDINANCE REGULATING PLUMBING WORK IN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS; DEFINING CERTAIN TERMS; PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN EXEMPTIONS;PRO- VIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THIS ORDINANCE, ISSUANCE OF PERMITS, AND ESTABLISHMENT OF CERTAIN FEES; PROVIDING FOR SPECIFICATIONS, MATERIALS AND METHOD OF PLUMBING INSTALLATIONS; PROVIDING PEN- ALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES, OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES OR AMEND- MENTS THERETO, IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE I The necessity for adopting a model plumbing code was discussed. Alderman Tuttle moved adoption of the Ordinance. Alderman Pool seconded the motion, and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: Damon, Froh, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg NAY: None The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and Adopted. The City Manager gave a progress report on the appli- cation for a Neighborhood Youth Corps in San Marcos. Due to the delay in processing through State and Feder- al channels, Mr. Fuller said, the program would prob- ably be reduced in the number of weeks it could operate in the Summer, but that there is a possibi lity it could be continued into the Fal I, provided the work schedule would not interefere with school. I A petition signed by a number of residents of Rio Vista Addition was received by the Counci I. On motion of Alderman Froh, second of Alderman Tuttle, and the unani- mous vote of the Counci I, the petition was tabled until the next regular meeting. The Mayor welcomed Dr. O.J. Baker, Director of Gary Job Corps Center, to the meeting. After thanking officials and the people of San Marcos for their cooperation in the establishment of the Center, and the reception the community as a whole had given Corpsmen and staff, Dr. Baker gave a full report on the development of the program and life at Gary.. Of special interest was his explanation of "OPPortun:i"ty" Inc.", a volunteer organization composed of industrialists who are assisting in the development of training courses that will mesh with job openings avai 1- able when the men leave Gary. Dr. Baker discussed with the Counci I the release of airport faci lities at Gary for use as a Municipal Airport. He said he had discussed this with "0. I ." members, who cons i dered operat i on of the a i r- I port faci lities by the City as a necessary part of Gary operation. The Mayor said the Counci I would appreciate anything Dr. Baker could do to accelerate the processing of the City's application for the airport faci lities. Dr. Baker thanked Mayor Serur for taking time to meet every contingent of men who have arrived at Gary Center. He said it meant a great deal to the program to have the Mayor of San Marcos welcome the men.
