<br />recessed special meeting, june 29, 1965 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />,~ " <br />, ~i/ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING PLUMBING WORK IN THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS; DEFINING CERTAIN <br />TERMS; PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN EXEMPTIONS;PRO- <br />VIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF THIS ORDINANCE, <br />ISSUANCE OF PERMITS, AND ESTABLISHMENT OF CERTAIN <br />FEES; PROVIDING FOR SPECIFICATIONS, MATERIALS AND <br />METHOD OF PLUMBING INSTALLATIONS; PROVIDING PEN- <br />ALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; REPEALING <br />ALL ORDINANCES, OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES OR AMEND- <br />MENTS THERETO, IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE; <br />PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The necessity for adopting a model plumbing code was <br />discussed. Alderman Tuttle moved adoption of the <br />Ordinance. Alderman Pool seconded the motion, and on <br />roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Damon, Froh, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved <br />and Adopted. <br /> <br />The City Manager gave a progress report on the appli- <br />cation for a Neighborhood Youth Corps in San Marcos. <br />Due to the delay in processing through State and Feder- <br />al channels, Mr. Fuller said, the program would prob- <br />ably be reduced in the number of weeks it could operate <br />in the Summer, but that there is a possibi lity it could <br />be continued into the Fal I, provided the work schedule <br />would not interefere with school. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A petition signed by a number of residents of Rio Vista <br />Addition was received by the Counci I. On motion of <br />Alderman Froh, second of Alderman Tuttle, and the unani- <br />mous vote of the Counci I, the petition was tabled until <br />the next regular meeting. <br /> <br />The Mayor welcomed Dr. O.J. Baker, Director of Gary Job <br />Corps Center, to the meeting. After thanking officials <br />and the people of San Marcos for their cooperation in <br />the establishment of the Center, and the reception the <br />community as a whole had given Corpsmen and staff, Dr. Baker <br />gave a full report on the development of the program and <br />life at Gary.. Of special interest was his explanation of <br />"OPPortun:i"ty" Inc.", a volunteer organization composed of <br />industrialists who are assisting in the development of <br />training courses that will mesh with job openings avai 1- <br />able when the men leave Gary. Dr. Baker discussed with <br />the Counci I the release of airport faci lities at Gary for <br />use as a Municipal Airport. He said he had discussed this <br />with "0. I ." members, who cons i dered operat i on of the a i r- I <br />port faci lities by the City as a necessary part of Gary <br />operation. The Mayor said the Counci I would appreciate <br />anything Dr. Baker could do to accelerate the processing <br />of the City's application for the airport faci lities. <br />Dr. Baker thanked Mayor Serur for taking time to meet <br />every contingent of men who have arrived at Gary Center. <br />He said it meant a great deal to the program to have the <br />Mayor of San Marcos welcome the men. <br />
