<br />,- <br /> <br />regular meeting, july 12, 1965 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />\ ,~, <br /> <br />Cornelio Alvarado appeared before the Counci I in <br />reference to his appl ication for a permit to op- <br />erate a taxicab in San Marcos. The Mayor quest- <br />ioned Mr. Alvarado on several requirements of the <br />Taxicab Ordinance. By common consent, the Counci I <br />approved the Mayor's decision to ask Mr. Alvarado <br />to furnish the City Manager or the City Secretary <br />with a more complete financial statement, and a <br />statement of need for additional taxi service in <br />San Marcos. Mr. Serur told Mr. Alvarado that when I <br />those requirements were met, the Counci I would give <br />further consideration to the application. <br /> <br />Frank Pennington, spokesman for a number of Rio Vista <br />Addition residents, Came before the Counci I to pro- <br />test the moving of "substandard" houses from the Urb- <br />an Renewal project areas into their neighborhood. The <br />Mayor read aloud a petition signed by 27 residents of <br />the area, received by the Counci I at the June 29 meeting. <br />In reference to the request that the City pass an ord- <br />inance requiring that a house moved into the addition <br />"blend harmoniously with the surrounding neighborhood", <br />Mr. Serur said it would be impossible to establ ish a <br />criteria, since it would be a matter of personal taste. <br />In other requests, the Mayor pointed out that they were <br />already being met by existing City bui Jding codes, ordi- <br />nances and regulations. The Mayor introduced a Resolut- <br />ion directing the Urban Renewal Agency (L.P.A.) to <br />"make or require contracts... to assure that the relocat- <br />ion of the structure wi II not tend to deteriorate the <br />area in which it is being located..," The Resolution, <br />read and discussed by the Counc ii, is made a part of the I <br />Minutes. Alderman Damon moved approval of the Resolution. <br />Alderman Pool seconded the motion and on rol I cal I, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Froh, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Resolution Passed and Approved, <br />and instructed the City Secretary to forward a copy to <br />the Director of the Local Public Agency. <br /> <br />In a Memorandum to the Counci I, the City Manager recom- <br />mended that Warden Lane be accepted by the City as a <br />dedicated street, with two restrictions. The Counci I <br />discussed the matter at length. Alderman Froh express- <br />ed himself as opposed to accepting the street. Alderman <br />Damon moved that the City accept Warden Lane as a dedi- <br />cated street, with the fol lowing restrictions: " (I) That <br />parking be permitted only on the south side of Warden Lane; <br />and (2), that no lots abutting on this street may be sold <br />unti I the same shall have been subdivided in accordance <br />with the Subdivision Ordinance then in effect." Alderman I <br />Whittenberg seconded the motion, and on roll call, the <br />following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />Froh <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br />
