Lloyd Read, Miss Mary Louise Hightower, Everett Johnson, Lloyd Pate, Rex Reddel I, Lennart Ahlberg and others The Mayor cal led the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. A.T. Harris, pastor of the AME Wesley Chapel, gave the Invocation. I The Minutes of the Dec. 13, 1965 meet i ng were approved as presented, on motion of Alderman Pool, and second of Alderman Damon. The Mayor introduced Mr. Kenneth Finch of Ernst 5' Ernst, who gave a summarized report on the 5-months audit just completed by his firm. Copies of the Nov. 30, 1965 Audit and the "Audited Financial Statements and Other Financial Information of June 30, 1965" were distributed to members of the Counci I. Copies of both Audits are on file in the City Secretary's office for publ ic inspection. Mr. Finch commented on the improvement in bookkeeping practices dur- ing the past year, and made some minor recommendations. The Mayor recognized Mr. John Laney, President of Executive Airlines, Inc., of San Antonio, who approached the Council about leasing the faci I ities at Municipal (Gary) Airport. Mr, Laney explained his training program for commercial pi lots, and stated he would require the entire hangar. Alderman Froh suggested that he present his proposal "in a legal manner" to the new City Manager when he assumes his duties, Jan. 15th. I The Mayor introduced the d i spos; t i on of "the 31 ough Tract", 1.3 acres of slough formerly a part of the US Fish Hatchery, acquired from General Services Administration. Alderman Whittenberg reviewed the City's negotiations for the prop- erty, start i ng in Apr ii, 1965, and the Counc ii's intended d i sposa I of it. Mr. Wh i ttenberg moved that the Counc i I se I I the 1.3 acres of slough tract to Aquarena, Inc. for $7,500., the purchase price. Alderman Damon seconded the motion, and on rol I cal" the following vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: Damon, Froh, Pool, Whittenberg None = U I~ :::t:: ~ The Mayor declared the motion carried.
