<br />february 14, 1966 <br /> <br />page six <br /> <br />AYE: Damon, Froh, Pool, Tuttle, Whittenberg <br />NAY: None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the Ordinance Passed, Approved and <br />Adopted. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced an Ordinance regulating the speed <br />on portion'1'of RM 12 (East .Hopkins Street) within the <br />City Limits, as set by the Texas Highway Department. <br />Caption is as fol lows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC <br />UPON PORTIONS OF RANCH TO MARKET ROAD 12 IN <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS FROM LOOP 82 TO INTER- <br />STATE 35 THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CERTAIN <br />MAXIMUM SPEEDS AND FOR PARTICULAR SECTIONS DF <br />THE SAID HIGHWAY ENUMERATING THE SECTIONS THERE- <br />OF WITHIN THE MAXIMUM SPEEDS; FIXING PENALTIES <br />FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ORD- <br />INANCE; PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE; REPEAL- <br />ING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF IN CONFLICT <br />HEREWITH; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Ordinance was read in ful I. Alderman Damon moved <br />its adoption. Approved and <br />Adopted. <br /> <br />A bid for $236.00 from Henry's Auto Parts for Junk adver- <br />tised for sale by the City was accepted by the Council, <br />by common consent. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A request for street lights from residents of Sarah Drive <br />was approved by the Counci I and referred to the City Man- <br />ager for processing through Lower Colorado River Authority. <br /> <br />Mayor Serur read aloud a letter from Kenneth Brown, Presi- <br />dent of Brown Schools, expressing appreciation for the City's <br />int,re8t in expansion of the School. He stated there would <br />be further expansion of the campus of the San Marcos unit of <br />Brown Schools. <br /> <br />The Mayor appointed Aldermen Damon and Froh to work with <br />City Manager Wolff as an Equipment Committee. <br /> <br />On suggestion of Alderman Pool. the Counci I adjourned to <br />reconvene in executive session to discuss airport matters. <br />Alderman Froh requested members of the press to remain <br />to discuss handling of City news stories. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Alderman Pool reported that he and the City Manager had been <br />unable to corne to an agreement with Joe Gafford for the pos- <br />ition of Fixed Base Operator at the new Municipal Airport. <br />It was agreed by common consent, on motion of Alderman Whitt- <br />enberg and second of Alderman Tuttle, that Mr. Gafford be in- <br />vited to come before the Council and discuss terms of the <br />agreement. <br /> <br />The Counci I adjourned at I I :00 p.m. <br />
